yep, had been using Fluke to transfer flacs into itunes and that was somehow causing the glitch, just that track, same spot, every time, beats me why.

I would think the FLAC would sound better because unless you're using Exact Audio Copy to perfectly rip your CDs, there's the chance the physical medium of the CD will work against you versus an already perfect FLAC rip. It would be easier and 'safer' (if you don't know how to use EAC and simply use your media player's default program) to convert it from FLAC into LAME variable bit rate setting: V0 mp3. make sure you have lame 3.98+!
BTW not trying to get all audiophile but honestly i think most people, including audiophiles, can't even tell the difference between most 192kbp/s mp3s and 320 kbp/s mp3s, let alone the difference between 320 and lossless. music that is 'properly' mastered can sound fantastic even at 192.

For me the two most important reasons to use lossless audio are that 1) you don't have to worry about how your files will sound with upgraded sound equipment and that 2) you can verify the files' accuracy with Accuraterip or the rip log file, assumed they come from a CD. Even if you already have transparent mp3s, they can still have encoding errors that introduce glitches, dropouts and other nasty things into the sound. That's definitely audible, even if the quality improvement from transparent lossy to lossless itself isn't. Any glitches you hear with verified lossless files will come from the mastering.
I downloaded the album in FLAC but I need to convert the files to use in iTunes. I have no desire to switch media player. Does anyone know of a site to convert FLAC to ALAC? I had some software that let you convert only 5 minutes worth of music per file for free so that was useless. Does VLC let you convert FLAC to ALAC? I seem to remember something about it but I haven't had a chance to try yet.
I will be fine using WAV as I know any of these are lossless, just that to my knowledge the only difference is WAV files aren't compressed as efficiently so take up more space. Also typing metadata manually can be tedious. For most music I just use .aac, BoC is the exception for me!

You can covert the WAV files to ALAC with iTunes. That's the most simple way to do it.
