I'm hesitant to even post this as it's probably nothing, but,
I've been trying this pairing situation out and in pairing Semena Mertvykh with Split Your Infinities, the split track title changes to "Split Your lab219249" in Apple Logic Express and GarageBand.

This hasn't happened with any other track pairings.

Thoughts?

I don't understand this at all. Where did this image come from and what to do the numbers and letters represent?

It's from Ableton Live production software and it is all the tracks of Tomorrow's Harvest color coded by the musical key of the track

This is just silly. You could probably pick any five albums from any genre at random, "analyze" them this way and find similar "key pairs".

I'm inclined to agree. What does the dark red represent? Gemini is roughly in D minor, Cold earth in A minor, and Palace Posy starts out in C major, and ends up in E major with some chromaticisms. So why are they all red?

Also, there are 17 tracks and 12 keys... there's guaranteed to be at least 5 "twins". Am I missing something?

Do BoC fans read too much into things?

Yes.

Some of the pairs don't really sound all that great... Like way too much going on for this to be way the music is intended to be heard?

No?

At first I thought it was a reference to the trinity (yeah, I know, I know) but now seeing this, could it be that all of the twins are derived from the outliers (the "special" tracks) in form and/or structure?
I've also noticed in many of the tracks that themes that seem to follow each other either in unison or support and then suddenly change when one of the themes varies. I've thought a lot about how this (as well as other indicators such as how there are two separate "parts" to the songs, two columns of structure, seemingly two "sides" to the album, etc.) might be an insight to how the brothers are drifting apart. Constants are changing.

You're on to something ...

At 4:27 or 20 seconds till RFD ends the Lights divide in the video . If you press play for Come To Dust at the 4:27 mark of RFD both songs overlap and fade into each other perfectly and exactly at the end of RFD the drums should kick in for Come To Dust .

This also holds the same for the other matching tracks . They are twins .

No wonder this album took 8 years !!! .

I'm with this, i think it's great you guys are having fun but tracks being twins doesn't necessarily mean they should be played together in an overlapping way. I think it's more about the narrative, certain tracks being 'reprises' and such.

Not to overlap as in the entire track over another but as a cross fade between reprises only during the sections where tracks fade out do they match up perfectly on top of each other .

Well, yes, this is what BoC confirmed in that interview. They specifically said "Come to Dust" is a reprise of "Reach For the Dead," as the two share a similar progression, very much like what you pointed out. They also said the same thing applies with the opening and closing tracks.

Also, "Collapse" is a palindrome in of itself, it sounds the same forwards and backwards.

Yes, sorry. I was agreeing with you on this. I like the idea that related tracks work together in this way rather than being placed directly together, seems overkill. But fun none the less.

did they? where did you read this?

i dunno, i'm holding out on this. synths and their strings can do fun things on any 2 tracks containing so. good job theres not many beats eh

Some other topic here linked to an interview BoC gave just a few days ago. They said a big concept of the album was palindromic structure.

Collapse (Track 9) is the "middle track" (which coincidentally sounds the same forwards and backwards), then you have eight tracks before and after it. Tracks 1 and 16 are musical reprises, Tracks 2 and 15, etc. This wasn't outright stated per se, but they very strongly hinted at this.

And some in this topic have stated other ways certain songs are connected to one another.

Just done this and I can confirm it's true - RFTD leads into Come To Dust perfectly. Beautifully.

Absolutely fantastic spot, this! Made my morning :D

When you say it holds true for the other matching tracks, do you mean you've got one to lead into another like RFTD->Come To Dust? Could this explain why it appears that some tracks seem to end quite unexpectedly? i.e. they're actually leading into their twin?

V exciting stuff, and again, great spot *doffs cap*

Just tried the RFTD -> Come to Dust transition too, and it is actually really beautiful. However I'm being a bit skeptical about it being intended.
