Slow This Bird Down Morse Code
Greetings Canadians.
Those who don't know me, I'm a big radio enthusiast. Ham radio, yadda yadda yadda. Besides the point.
I was listening to Slow this Bird Down one day, and noticed the morse code ("CW") at the end.
So, I was curious, and decided to decode it.
It was a ham radio callsign "GM3DSK".
I searched for this callsign, but it doesn't exist.
But what does?
G3DSK.
I look up this callsign.
The owner?
"Ra Lord".
Located just outside of London.
When you visit scotland, you'd add an M to the beginning.
Could this be some guy caught in action - or one of the Brothers?
I thought this was interesting.

Say I'm from England. My callsign, for simplicity, would be G1A. If I visited Scotland, went on the radio, I would use GM1A.Kathleen wrote:I don't get the "when you visit scotland, you'd add an M to the beginning" part. Do you mean if you wanted to find the Ra Lord ham radio station from Scotland, you'd need to add an M? Sorry, I know NOTHING about ham radio.
What's on the station?
And "what's on it" isn't quite anything - ham radio stations exist to talk to each other, like over Skype or something - just over radio waves.

Sometimes when I come to twoism I feel like I stepped inside a 12 Monkey's microcosm.
Ra was an Egyptian God.
Look up Ra Music (I believe) and you will find a theory of music propounded by Alan Howarth -- of John Carpenter fame.

If I remember correctly, he explains Ra Music on youtube somewhere.

I always thought I could hear teletype in the background in that last section as well although its frequency seems to be modulated so it's probably not decodable. I'm guessing the lads just recorded a few different shortwave transmissions, fucked about with them a bit and layered them up during the outro vignette piece.

I've never heard that before. At what time roughly does it appear on the recording?Torn n Frayed wrote:Not sure if anyone else had heard it before but in Satellite Anthem Icarus you can hear the title spoken in time with the music at the end of the tune.

Man, I'm not sure if my mind is playing tricks on me. I think I can hear it but it might just be because I'm expecting to hear it. I'm pretty sure there's something there though.Torn n Frayed wrote:From 4:14 on! Verrrrry faint tho!GeometricPish wrote:I've never heard that before. I don't think the Icarus is in there, just Satellite Anthem repeated.GeometricPish wrote:Man, I'm not sure if my mind is playing tricks on me. Yeah. It's just a normal RATT (radio teletype) military transmission. Very very very common on shortwave; they're always encrypted.GeometricPish wrote:You're looking way too deep in to this RA is just his initials (R.)
