It's early AM here, won't know if anything has been delivered until this evening...however, I did get a response from Bleep:
DM, Jun 14 10:56 (BST):
Hi Matt
Thanks for your mail and your questions which are entirely appropriate reasonable to ask. We do wish to make our service as good as it can be and really value our customers. It is a real concern for us when people feel we have got things wrong.... it makes us feel bad!
1. Saying that US orders will originate from the US USUALLY implies Canada
as well. I wish I had known it would originate from the UK and the shipping
class to expect...
This is something that being from London we simply did not realise! Point taken and we would make this clear in future. Shipping Canadian orders from the States was considered, but the costs were prohibitive. It was working out at a level that we did not feel acceptable to charge the customer. It is crazy - but true we were finding it more expensive to ship from the USA to Canada than from the UK.
2. For countries outside the US/EU - can it please be stated clearly what
our wait times are? Saying "we will get them as close to release day as we
can" is kind of like false hope. Unless you are allowing appropriate
timing, that statement is misleading.
Again - point taken. However we are talking about a range from 7-28 days. Some will arrive for release date or the week of release. We do ship as soon as we can, but generally cannot ship until the Monday before release, due to the arrival of stock and an embargo that needs to be in place for all stores/distributors on shipping the product.
3. For countries outside the US/EU - what other options for shipping can
you investigate? How are companies able to ship worldwide in days, with
decent shipping costs, without running into these same kinds of delays?
The problem that I have found when investigating such options is the costs relative to the value of the item, it has just not seemed like an option that was acceptable to offer the customer. i.e. Greater than the price of the record to send it via a different service. That said I think for a similar project in future we will provide the option of couriering so people can make the choice.
Can you give me examples of other companies who we should be looking to? It would be great to hear.
4. Billing my credit card - I was shocked to see the money come off my
credit card days after my preorder was submitted, and NOT on the day it was
shipped - each company has their own process I suppose, but taking the
money in April/First of May for something that isn't shipping until June
seemed early.
The options that we have are doing a pre-authorisation and ring fencing the money for 6 weeks, or taking the payment straight away. We have experimented with the pre-auth only option previously and it has caused huge confusion with customers. A hold is put on their funds and they are unclear what is going on. That said - we have moved recently to an improved payment provider. I think there may be ways of changing this approach, but I am only considering this as I write - so dont hold us to it!
I would like to state this, however: I do appreciate the crazy amount of
work that would go into something like this from a distribution stand
point. As a company though you are ultimately the ones responsible. I can't
go to Canada Post and complain that my order took 28 days to get to me,
because there isn't anything they can do. I would suggest making the
delivery company responsible, and overseas shipping - handled by one entity
- is the way to go in my opinion.
You are right - it is our responsibility. We cannot, and do not hold anyone else responsible and you are our customers and we have the choice of what other companies we contract. What do you mean by making one entity responsible? I'm not clear on this?
With the 28 day messaging I would like to stress that intended message was that we will replace any orders overseas that do not arrive after 28 days. This is not expected delivery time, but what we consider the upper end.
Thank you for replying to my concerns, and I do appreciate the "tone" I get
in return. I do, honestly, believe that you are sincere in your replies and
ultimately, I just want to listen to what I'm hoping is going to be a
fantastic vinyl.
If you have any queries to follow this up please mail me back. It is a fantastic vinyl and I hope it is with you soon.
Best wishes
DM

I know, it's damn hard to write an angry email to responses that are quick and politeMindElevation wrote:To be fair, their email customer service is pretty damn impressive ^.

I am interested to see how they packed it. If I remember correctly from past pre-orders, they just threw it in a box with no padding or protection...drixlin wrote:I know, it's damn hard to write an angry email to responses that are quick and politeMindElevation wrote:To be fair, their email customer service is pretty damn impressive ^.![]()

I must say, the support I've had from Bleep has helped with the anger, heh.
The last response came in 20 mins! I gave some suggestions to overseas/international shipments and they seemed to like them, so hopefully when the next album drops I will have a difficult decision to either preorder from Bleep again or Amazon...
Honestly, without them saying anything, I think this was bigger than they had imagined and they got overwhelmed. The album is charting all over the place, the hype around it was intense...well guess what guys, you're big time now - time to put on your big boy pants

Mine is being being shipped to Japan and is currently in being shipped. I've never had problems with Bleep before with any BoC pre-order. My wait time could be 28 days. I got the Japanese copy on the release morning.
I really think that Warp just got blown away by the response for the album and couldn't deal with it. I think they trying to do their best for their customers.
I understand some of your guys' frustration. I'm personally not unhappy with them. I think them making sure they had stocks in stores was more important for the exposure of the new album.
I feel bad for you all who waited, but I got mine on the 5th and wasn't able to listen until the 9th due to certain circumstances.
If you still haven't listened, don't worry. This is going to be the soundtrack to your 2013 summer. It is their best album, bar nine.

"It's been a long time..."
I live in Finland but IN am travelling atm so delay for me is not a biggie. I bought artcard version of the cd from Worcester from some indie shoppe and got some stickers to go and polite service also. But I mostly decided to pre order to show support and buy a shirt on the way. Unlucky they did not pull this out very good..
Bigger than they imagined? the whole reason companies offer a pre-order service is to gauge the response and give themselves time to respond appropriately.drixlin wrote:I must say, the support I've had from Bleep has helped with the anger, heh.

Bleep state on their website that "We will endeavour to ship this to arrive with you on the release date"
Well shipping an item 4 days before release date and then saying it will take 14-28 days to arrive represents NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER to have the item arrive "on the release date."
I know this is getting old now. But we've been totally burned on this. No amount of nice replies to emails will change that. There needs to be a general response to the community.

I haven't shared ALL of my email correspondence because it's multiple back and forths, but when I say nice emails I don't mean they're just polite...I mean they're giving me honest answers and even though I don't like the outcome, I can't fault them for telling me the truth - and I do actually believe what they are saying.Macfuk wrote:Bigger than they imagined? the whole reason companies offer a pre-order service is to gauge the response and give themselves time to respond appropriately.drixlin wrote:I must say, the support I've had from Bleep has helped with the anger, heh.

For example when probed about the international shipping times/delays, etc:
Their answers are genuine, I feel I haven't been fluffed off and they seemed to take me seriously. About 10 emails deep and I feel that, yes there was issues on their end, but they were very receptive of my situation/suggestions and actually are looking to improve. While it sucks now, I can't help but see their reaction as at least a step in making things better. Do I expect anything out of all this? Yes, my fucking vinyl plzAgain - point taken. Yes!!! Stickers and Posters!!! eyes on the prize!!!drixlin wrote:Do I expect anything out of all this? Yes, my fucking vinyl plz
joking
yea they are doing their best, its not easy, this embargo thing with record stores gets me though. fans who pre-ordered should get priority over all of them, simple as and they should have been shipped out 1 or even 2 weeks before not during that week. it all seems to me that they didnt want anyone getting their hands on it a few days before each zones release date or before digital files were released to avoid the... leak! theres no other reason i can see. they could of had these 2 weeks ago to ship if they wanted, they probably did but held them.
