So when is the new FILM Boards of Canada released?

Post by purgruv »

"If all goes according to plan, everything we've done so far will be just one stage in our development," Mike says, "Boards of Canada is the tip of the iceberg."

What if… the album is the soundtrack to their new film? Some Twoists have evoked the soundtrack style of TH. Why not? I, for one, would love this to be true…

Considering that article is almost a decade old, I wouldn't hold your breath....

On the other hand, it'd be cool to see some visual work from them. I'm content with the new record for now. But, you never know

Not the article, but the quote. The point was that it could be a film soundtrack.

I think if we want a glimpse into the audio visual fusion of what a Film/ live BOC performance would look like, looking at Cunninghams's live Film/music work would be a good place to start .

Films aren't usually made in complete secrecy. It's not the same as making an album.

Most films are not .
However there have been films that have been, for example Terrence Mallack's films .
Also Kubrick & Spielberg were secretly making A.I. for over a decade

Funny you bring that up. Didn't that movie have a similar promotion as tomorrows harvest with the internet-puzzle-things.

Totally forgot about that hard to believe that was over 10 years ago now. Yes it did with the flashing lights on the letters in the trailer .

Here's a great segment on Spielberg describing the lengths kubrick wanted him to go for secrecy .
Also Chris Cunningham was one of the youngest people at the time working with Kubrick Both on A.I. and I think location scouting photography for Eyes Wide Shut.

hearing Haley Joel Osment talk is pretty cringe worthy, i'd skip that part .

They have made noises about films since the beginning, at least with this album we've seen more visual work than ever before - Read for the Dead, the Cosecha teaser, Cold Earth visuals @ DEMF... maybe this means more to come (though I don't want to be greedy!)? I feel like, finally on this album they are firing on all cylinders as a full multimedia project. But will it continue past the initial album launch campaign, that's the big question...
