Gemini as Tomorrow's Harvest Film Opening Titles - Video

Post by Betacord »

I'm possibly a bit nuts to be posting this, but anyway...

The very first time I was able to properly listen to Gemini, was like catching the start of some obscure 70s late film and having no clue what it was supposed to be about... I thought that was fantastic!

There have been some great montage videos for previous BOC tracks with clips from other films and archive, but I thought it would be interesting to try something more specific and visually inspired by the album. I had to make do with free and available footage which is very limited, but jotted down some ideas and went from there... Some stills (NB: the first one is part of the logo, which I had good fun putting together):

While it started out as a bit of fun, actually ended up becoming a semi-serious thing with colour adjustment, keyframing, keying bits in, and recording my own RF static... I thought rather than leave this sitting around, I'd share it with the good people here. Video is below - please give it some time to load:

If anyone else has considered their own take on a TH opening titles video directly inspired by the album, in a similar (ideally a much better!) way, would be great to hear about it.

As I say, slightly mad of me to have even started on this... But I hope you enjoy!

Oh my God! Incredible. That logo with the fanfare at the start is PERFECT. Seriously.

You'd be nuts not to post that.

I don't watch many fan made videos, as I think many of them end up using the audio more as a soundtrack as opposed to bringing it to life while still allowing the tune to take center stage. I'd say you hit the nail on the head with this one. Great work.

I've been able to see about 15 seconds of it over the last hour. Looks great.

But you need to upload it to something that's reliable and that will get a bunch of hits.

And I want to see the rest of it.

Yeah make an account at Vimeo and upload it over there. That way I can share it on bocpages Facebook too.

I'll also feature it @ http://bocpages.org/wiki/Fan_Community and on the flipboard magazine.

Sharing is caring. :)

Desperate to see it now, sounds great, I think this album more than any requires visuals with each track.

@mindelevation

Yeah it's far too good for fan made. I'm guessing leak of the real BoC film!!! (Smirkey)

could you tell us more about where you got the footage or what your process was for creating it? i assume you time stretched bits so it would actually be long enough to use and used grain and film effects. do tell! :)
