Any pole dance ideas for Come to Dust

Post by purgruv »

My wife pole dances and thinks Come to Dust would make an excellent routine, she loves the track. I agree as it has the right speed, key, tempo, angst and sexiness.
Just wondering if any of you have any ideas for dance style inspiration.

*blink* I can honestly say my mind has never made the connection between BoC and any erotic dancing, but now you've got me thinking.

I guess the motions would have to be quite slow and hypnotic - try moving on each beat of the snare that 'breathes' near the beginning of the track, or on each note of the "wobbly chord thing". Maybe follow the choir pad in the background starting at 2:20.

...Great, now I'm imagining a "Burlesque of Canada" show...I think Palace Posy would be quite, um, bouncy.

what's with all of the erotic threads today? Calm down you horny people. xP

and no, it would not make that great of a track for it, in my opinion just because of the irrelevance but honestly, do whatever you want.

I'd wager more on the likes of Twoism, because it has a more feminine nature and a macabre feeling that may be considered sexy or interpreted that way.

Guess it's all subjective though.

Well it would certainly be a nice distraction from the whole system collapsing around us!
Only problem is that money itself will become worthless, and canned goods are difficult to tuck into a g-string!
...what subtlety?

Just to make this absolutely clear this is pole dancing in the dancing acrobatic gymnastic sense and not the strip club (incidental pole to walk around) sense. These are real athletes, check out Zoraya Judd or Sammy Lee.

So, does no one else found this track sexy?

I don't find pole dancing sexy at all to be fair and if there is a real issue of people feeling they have to disassociate themselves with the strip club type pole dancing then they should drop the word sexy to make a clean cut. If they are both meant to be sexy then they are essentially the same thing just with some people have a plum up their bum and other a cock.

No beef ;)

Of course i'm joking around and not taking the piss out of your wife's hobbies. I just think this is a weird thread hehe.

I find none of BOC's music to be sexy.

And I would leave the dance inspiration up to your girl. The last people you want to ask are a bunch of geeks in front of their computers all day.

I'd agree with that. I find it introspective, atmospheric, sometimes funky but never sexy. The closest I'd come to calling it that would be Aquarius in which the beat / instrumentation sounds a little bit like 70's porno music to me. In a tongue-in-cheek sort of way. I'm surprised I even made that connection to be honest.

I haven't a clue about dance styles or routines so I'm afraid I really can't help out here. Interesting idea, I'll say that much.

Honestly, not really. I know what you mean - with the beat, and the breathing, and stuff, but it just feels like a very introspective track to me. It feels like watching other people play and have fun at a distance, while being left alone to your own thoughts and being unable to interact with other people or your surroundings. It feels like comfortable social anxiety, if that makes any sense (not something I generally suffer from but it feels very personal somehow).

P.S. Yo, I recognised your name, you're the other big Boards fan on my last.fm friends list, haha

Probably because of the voices being all muffled and such. I understand your point of view too. For some reason when I think of THS, I always think of a young kid having to go to bed early on a warm summer day. While his parents and siblings are still awake and downstairs laughing and talking.

Only recently a friend of mine pointed out that he found the track very pornographic, when I listened to it with him, it suddenly came to my mind too.

And hi man! I already recognized your avatar too! :D

Am I the only one who finds Jacquard Causeway sexy? I'm not saying it's a good track for sexing per se, but I think it would be excellent for any kind of erotic dance, assuming it was done very slowly and hypnotically.

That song always makes me think ofthis clip from Drive.
