It sounded a bit like user ross adey had heard a track which actually featured the legit sample from Duffy. I assume that's what audiotrack thought too. The descriptions sounded similar to the supposed Acid Memories tracks on R35TT. I would never have thought such an intriguing post could be sitting dormant for over 8 years.
So on the subject of AFOT, http://rareboc.ax.lt
You can also download the highest quality rip of AFOT from that site - this will probably be a big increase in quality for most people.

Where did the higher quality rip of AFOT originate? I always thought there was only one (poor quality) rip in existence and that was the one that everyone has. Was someone who owns the tape kind enough to rip it (yet only partially) in higher quality at some point since it first surfaced?

What if there was some kind of public fan website which aggregates a lot of information about Boards of Canada in one up-to-date place? Wouldn't that be a great idea?!

i checked Bocpages and it seems to suggest so but it's not totally clear.
does the random 35 song tape have tracks exclusive to it not found on the Old Tunes volumes?
i have only heard the Old Tunes and thought the random collection was just made up of bits from the two Old Tunes volumes.
The implication seems to be that R35TT is a compilation made by someone with access to the full back catalogue - for example, she is p is on r35tt but not on acid memories/closes/catalogue/hooper etc. so the tape has come from an original rip. the rest, mostly, are from those above mentioned tapes, sort of a "best of". or that is the best theory anyway

Thanks for this, for the moment I have access to the AFOT d/l you posted and it seems identical to my copy that I reacquired in the run up to the TH release except the track edits for Light, clear hair / PC etc. and also the fact that the linked version appears to have the gain reduced quite a bit making the volume that much lower, I wonder if is this a new source or a modification from a similar source as mine.
Apart from that I really like the cover used on this version, with the grainy tan paper as a backdrop, is this one of your own creations? What happened to all the 'fabulous' text?
