The Universe Is Against Me - Tomorrow's Harvest

Post by earthportal »

So I have been trying to listen to this album for a week and a half now. My first attempt was to take a drive up to an area about an hour from my house that runs along a river. It would be a great place to get lost and listen to the new record. I had it all mapped out to take off work early and go. But the first 2 days I tried, my wife ended up needing our car for some work related items. So I had it all set to go on the weekend, but then it rained like crazy.

I made sure this week to set aside a special day to take the trip. The day before, my phone falls and breaks, rendering me without my portable media player that I was going to use to take the hike. I had already loaded the album onto it and everything.

The anticipation is frustrating the hell out of me, but at some point, I will have my "Tomorrow's Harvest" experience.

Sounds like the universe is telling you to get your hands on some shrooms first! Kidding.... kinda.

But yeah don't sweat it. When you finally get that time alone with TH it will be the right time, and well worth the wait. I sat with eyes closed and meditated through the album on two occasions before listening to it otherwise. If you run out of options, that one definitely suits the record quite well and can be done anywhere.

That's a great suggestion. It may work today to make the journey to my destination, but that's defintely a worthy Plan B.

Add a tent, a thunder and lightning storm, 24 bit WAVs, and a pair of Senheisers and that was my first listening experience. I played it through 4 times in a row. That shit changed me. WELL worth waiting for the perfect conditions if you are BoCD and we all basically are here, right?

Sorry to anyone upset that I mentioned 24-bit WAVs. :-)

Didn't upset me, I was thinking the same thing! And I know exactly what you mean about feeling changed - it sounds kind of w*nky to say it but I've never been so profoundly affected by an album.
Re original point: the good thing about first hearing TH as an mp3 is that you still have the higher qualities to look forward to later! That's how it's been for me - first the Transmission stream, later the flac and cd, and more recently the unmentionable extra 8 B...I....T....S - each improvement revealing more and more layers and richness in the music

:)

I found my day to take a hike into some forest areas and listen to the record. I love it, it was a great experience to wait and build up the anticipation until I had a perfect day free of distractions to get lost with it. Really digging it.

Wait until you hear the 25 bit WAVs. That's like one more than the 24 bit WAVs.

When I was listening to mine, the trees in a nearby forest died, and a nearby dog walker melted.

Because my vinyl arrived so late Bleep sent me the 32bit WAV's for Geogaddi. And you people think Magic Window is silent! Ha!

I actually got that too, but it was recalled by BoC.

Apparently if you listen to their work at too high a bit rate, it reverses the ageing process they worked so hard to achieve .

You see, most blokes will be playing at 24. You're on 24 here, all the way up, all the way up, 24 on your WAV. Where can you go from here? Where? Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Put it up to 24. Exactly. One more.

Why don't you just make 24 louder and make 24 be the top number and make that a little louder?
