That's awesome that you were into Boards of Canada at 9. People who grew up on BoC would be nostalgic listening to their music and their music is already nostalgic so it's like, double nostalgia.wash wrote:19, soon to be 20 0 discovered Boards when I was pretty young, not through Salad Fingers but another weird web series, Weebl and Bob - this episode, Cows, which had tons of other great music as well. That was in 2003. Holy shit, I was nine years old when I started listening to Boards of Canada. Where has the time gone??

I think my brother introduced me to BoC when I was about 13/14, I'm 18 now.
As I was already listening to chill-out, loungy music and trip-hop. Air, Zero 7, Portishead, Café del Mar was things I listened to. Then he recommended BoC to me, I started with MHTRTC didn't like it at first and put it off after a few songs.
A few months later I started listening to TCH, and cause I find TCH more chilled out/laid back. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Then started listening to more and more BoC. And now I basically love everything from BoC.

I started listening to BoC when I was 14-15, I'm 18 now. I started with Geogaddi, and even though I found some sounds really interesting, it was too creepy for me and I didn't like it. I started liking it when I first listened to MHRTC and TCH stoned. Then I could enjoy them being sober, and I quickly fell in love with the band.
There are many tracks that I can enjoy sober only after listening to them stoned, as if this other state of mind helps me understanding their music. I'm looking forward my first listening of TH under the influence, I only did it for Nothing is Real right now and that was awesome.

It's so weird to think that, me being born January 12th, I'm only 4 months older than MHTRTC. I know that BoC's isn't old in comparison to, well older music of the 40's and 50's, but to think that the tracks I listen to everyday were composed when I was still in the womb, is just weird I guess.

I don't know why but Music Has the Right to Children is a title that suits you and this post so perfectly.Betterthanyourkids wrote:It's so weird to think that, me being born January 12th, I'm only 4 months older than MHTRTC. Really amazed some people here are -98, I just imagine everybody's in their 20s 30s, including the poster I just quoted. I'm 24 myself, and got into Boc when I was 19 or something.
