Absolutely it is, does the OP want the band to ignore the prevailing vibe of these Sick Times and lie to us and more importantly themselves?SciFire wrote:I doubt the tabloids are interested in my posts. Anyway, I just paraphrased from This Hauntology Article which was posted in another thread (see the paragraph beginning: "Another vignette on Geogaddi".)IanRedpoint wrote:That could be so easily misunderstood by the tabloids!
Isn't discussion of uncomfortable truths what artists do when making art?

Music Has The Right Children is one of the most sinister titles ever.
Just say it out loud.
It sounds likes something a child murderer would say.

I crossed the bay bridge the other day. I saw a KGB van there, with some men scouting the bridge out (Semena Mertvykh). Sure, it was a just a kiteboarding company, but check out their site:
http://www.kgbswag.com/
The first picture you see is someone on a kiteboard aimed at the sun
The bay bridge tower alludes to Jaquard Causeway if you ask me. And why on Earth would they have build it with corroded materials if they weren't expecting it to stay up long?
And this may seem even more out there, but if you pause the first frame of the TH transmission (the one with nuclear explosions and Semena Mertvykh playing), you can sort of make out what looks like a giant robot on the left walking up to a kind of Giger-esque creature crouching in the bottom right corner. Where else have we seen giant robots and giant creatures fighting each other this summer? Pacific Rim. And first city to be attacked in the film is... You guessed it. SF
I happened to already be watching all of twin peaks right now before seeing this thread, strangely enough.

Well Beware The Friendly Stranger comes from an old (1940's?) propaganda poster about the dangers of marijuana cigarettes. I don't think it has anything to do with chimos.IanRedpoint wrote:That could be so easily misunderstood by the tabloids! It's probably safer to say that some of those song titles reference how child abuse etc. was portrayed by the media and authority figures to children in the '70s. I personally think of it as more to do with the way we were taught as children to develop a natural mistrust of strangers, and the loss of innocence that goes with that.SciFire wrote:Both MHTRTC and Geogaddi contain songs that may hint towards the subject of pedophilia for example. Anyway on the subject of BoC being evil, I have no idea where you get that idea. They are musicians, pure and simple. Is it evil to make music? I don't think so. Even if that music is at times creepy and disturbing (in the best possible way).

That's a great way of looking at it, and makes a lot of sense if you ask me. I think you've hit the nail on the head.IanRedpoint wrote:That could be so easily misunderstood by the tabloids!
