Lol... no.. I don't wanna be misunderstood. I respect people's opinions... but Ollie... I do live in the US which is not a very obscure place ..... and if by 'live drums' we mean drums actually played by a drummer rather than organized entirely on a drum machine or sampler not excluding those sampled from other recordings then 'Aquarius' too has 'live drums' and therefore provides a precedent for the current album.
I guess the misunderstanding lies in how we define 'live drums.' Not that anyone (myself included) cares too deeply about this particular issue... I just felt inclined to defend BOC from blasphemy and all manner of false accusations...

Ok Disavowed, this discussion about the use of live instruments is becoming facile. (Aquarius also has slap bass, a musical modality not used since the late 1980's, and works brilliantly). So what is my problem with this album? I think it's the fact that it sounds so much like the whole thing was made on VST's, but falls uncomfortably in-between an electronica album and a piece of work that Marc and Mike obviously had grander designs on.
And by the way, I don't think any less of them for making this record, they are evolving, but lets hope they don't evolve any more in this direction.
As for being 'brought back into the fold', I don't think thats the point of BOC, their sound is isolationist not inclusive, why do you think they live out in the sticks?

The slap bass and drums of aquarius are from a track by a group called Hair in a song of the same name. Found it on Soulseek. It's dorky. Boc WAY improved that one. It sounds pre-80's.
what is 'real'? there is no bloody spoon. if you're bored of boards, move on. check out quinoline yellow on skam records. as for me, mhtrtc is still my faveorite but only because that was the first material i heard of their work. the problem with having such big delays in between albums is that your expectation of what it should sound like becomes so great you expect to have same effect mainlining a kilo of mdma. dont take it all so seriously, tomorrow you will wake up and be five years old again.

I never had any problems with former BOC albums, each album mat up with the former, not this one do, i think it will take a long time before TCH will sink in, if it ever will...
I loved it since i heard it for the first time, and i don't think that it's bad just because it's different IMO it would be worse if it would sound just like MHTRTC or Geogaddi.
i have to say i am very board with tch now. there is nothing really to listen out for or anything like that. i havent listened to it for a week now and i listen to all other boc every day. i played tch about a million times and its just sh*t now.
the only prob now is that there is no other artist out there that is as good a the boc lads. who can hold your attention for this long just for the music and nothing else. they better release something else in the next few months, like an ep or something just to hold onto there real fans i say.

Ouch! I had the same problem when I over-played some of their tracks from previous albums, namely 1969, J&C, etc. I thought they were the dopest tracks. After repeditive listening, I couldn't listen to em anymore. Now I usually skip those tracks... which bums me out, cuz I used to love them. I guess one can get too much of a good thing sometimes.
I'd recommend put TCH down for a while then pick it back up. Better yet, put it in with the rest of their catalog and put it on shuffle. I've got nearly a day's worth of their music, and when a TCH track comes up, it fits right in and I love it. (although I have to admit, I still listen to the album front to back).

Kind of demanding...ehh? Tch has'nt even been out for a month yet. I'm sure it's gonna be a while till they release something else, don't hold your breath. I want to hear new boc as much as you do, but we all know now that they like to take thier time creating music.
And there are artists who are extremely talented other than boc. Helios, for example is incredibly dope. I just got 120 unreleased tracks amd I've actually been listening to those more lately than boc.
well i hadn't listened to it for about a week, and yup, its still fuckin amazing. i think the problem some of us may be having is that its too easy to listen to, unlike geogaddi. i love geogaddi, but ive only probably listened to it straight through (without cherry picking) maybe 30 times, tops. it takes amazing commitment, as opposed to TCHP, which is like : insert tape, push play, do something else. but is equally rewarding as geogaddi lying on the floor with headphones on. enjoy. now ive gotta wait till payday to order my japanese copy just for one extra track. i did it for geogaddi and ill do it again.

Well, I FINALLY sat down with my new TCH vinyls and listened to them uninterupted (save the odd record flip) front to back...
I was captivated throughout; it felt as though I were wrapped in warm blanket of psychadelic colours and shapes.
Hearing 'Peacock Tail' for the first time could only be described as a sonic orgasm... What a track.
So no Ollie, at this point I'd have to disagree with you on account of TCH being a crumby album, because to me it is anything but. As with the rest of BoC's catalogue I believe it will become an integral part of my listening experience in the years to come.
The second I listened to it....I just fell in love with sherbert-head....and sadly...I listened to it WAY to often...
so...it becomes....unatractive after a while..

And you consider yourself a BOC fan? I was dissapointed in the beginning but the more i listen 2 it, the better it get under one's skin

to be honest i dont like a a couple of tracks on the album namely OSTRE. i tried to like it when i heard it first, listening to it a couple of times thinking it would eventually sink in, but alas. it sounds very confused, and the little 1/32 appregio handclap towards the end is just wrong. on the other hand, 'satellite anthem icarus' and 'dayvan cowboy' and 'chromakey dreamcoat' are masterpieces.

i cant blame you for mention lemmon jelly and air. so far, i am very disappointed with the album and i agree with a lot of things you say. i'd go as far as to say that hardcore BoC fans are simply not allowing themselves to be disappointed. There is hardly any other reason, because clearly, this release won't ever come close to their earlier work.

TCH from BOC is no resemble with Air, where you get that idea from? I'm a hardcore BOC fan and i admit that the new album is not representing there earlier albums why should it, they evolve and trying out other sounds
IMO it would be worse if it would sound
