There are few artists who deserve to be obsessed over in listening to the music on vinyl. Stereolab...Burial...Godspeed You Black Emperor...and BOC is one of these. The fact that you're hearing the physical manifestation of vibrations from some esoteric machinery that few people in the world have access to and can operate is pretty flipping cool. I'd at least go to a thrift store, buy a turntable for a few bucks and give it a try. Trust me...it sounds better.

And I don't smoke. (but I do wear thick rimmed glasses)

Mine did too :(
Did you ever contact Bleep and let them know? I wrote to them and they sent me a new cover to replace my original that came split at the top. Didn't even need a photo, but I told them I took one if they wanted to see it.

Word. But when you play your new, shiny BOC records make sure it's a decent player. And read up on properly setting it up!

I didn't know jack about tonearm balancing and cartridge alignment / force at first, and probably did a lot of unnecessary damage to nice records.

Godspeed You Black Emperor?!?!?! ewwww. I wouldn't waste good vinyl listening time on that. If I wanted to waste time listening to some OTT, mind-numbing drivvel, I'd listen to any post-Carter US presidents' speeches :0

I didn't even hesitate....I pre-ordered all six, because comparatively $140 isn't a bad price at all.

I actually did, and they sent me a replacement. The replacement was torn too, so I just said to hell with it

$120 shipped at amoeba with the 15% code.
$155 shipped at bleep with the print and all promo items.

Are the print and promo items worth that $35 difference? It's sure looking that way. :?

Yep, that was just one of the most ridiculous things I have heard. If it's not your thing then, fair enough. I'd honestly like to hear what artists you hold in high regard (apart from the obvious) so I can say "They don't do it for me" and then you get annoyed at my lack of taste.
You could feel the bullshit

A clearance in a wooded area, you startle a deer, it runs into the pines. Vast turquoise lakes and icy rivers, crisp mountain air. A bald eagle soars above. The distant sound of a chainsaw. Redwood smoke

I never bought the burial LPs, I hate that songs are left off of it, that's just kind of ridiculous, there's any number of ways to put those tracks on. Oh well :P

And legally I can't even buy tobbacco but oh well

I mean, if GYBE isn't your thing, then don't listen to them. I find them enlightening...but I'm into Jewish/apocalyptic/anarchist imagery...and their milieu certainly fits with BOC. Maybe I should have stuck to artists that only use synthesizers. :p

My point is that vinyl makes a difference to the work of some artists, and to others, not so much. BOC is absolutely one of those artists.

No I didn't...For some reason I didn't even think about that, I was planning on selling it and buying another one haha. Hopefully it's not too late.

Buckle Higher wrote:So Geogaddi isn't 180 gram but it's recut from the DAT master and has sturdier new packaging? I guess that's a fair trade off. If the reissue drives down the price of the original pressing enough I may try to get an original so I can compare the sound quality. Then put the preferred version in the new sleeve with the extra panel of artwork!

Wasn't planning on buying Trans Canada Highway but it comes out to $10 with the EP bundle(as opposed to LP bundle plus Twoism and IABPOITC) so I might as well get both bundles. Really regretting not preordering Tomorrow's Harvest now, the discount would make it easier to justify this purchase.

Also, I'm not seeing anything to indicate a Hi Scores repress?
You wont be able to pick any discernible difference in quality.
