Something I didn't notice until years of listening was the birdsong and sound of a running river underneath the music in Pete Standing Alone, it's pretty subtle. I also think there might be a really subtle voice in that tune too if I'm remembering correctly.

It took me years to realize the birds were in the recording and it wasn't just a coincidence that I heard a bird outside my window everytime I heard this song. God that song fucking rules. Those drums yo.

Dunno if this counts, but has anyone ever wondered if that sound at the end of peacock tail is actually peacocks? Sounds kind of like a baby crying and i always wondered if they sampled one of their kids but then i remembered peacocks have creepy vocalizations like that.

I'm unable to pick that out. Is it layered speaking or is it singing? And I assume you mean before the drums (or even the main melody) come in?

It comes right to the front at 2:02-2:09... sounds like an angelic choir

The first two volumes on 4AD are well worth picking up, by the way.

The bird on Pete Standing Alone is a willow warbler and is quite an easy spot especially if you are a birder.

Not years, but I understand now that in Uritual 3rd note in main synth (or first sound which you here at the beginning) not wavy.
Its like "Holy BOC! They are playing with us!".
It looks wavy coz of high freq pad, but not.

Same thing in Rue The Whirl. You can't miss it at 1:53 but it's all through the song.

Yes but it's CLEARLY house sparrows in Rue. There isn't birds in Amo. What I think this chap is hearing is a reverbed relic from the percussion. There are no birds in Amo.

Just noticed Children singing in In The Annexe this morning waking up to the song playing (because I play BoC in my sleep as well as Tim Hecker, Daniel Lopatin and the likes...)

It literally brought tears to my eyes because in a sense it was frightening! But also beautiful and startling because I've never heard it in these 8 years of listening for me.

There's always something new with them...

OH! That creepy weeeeeerrrwwww like distorted sound that loops with the rest of the beat in Rue the Whirl- I didn't notice that until I listened to the tune on a good stereo system while I was on acid now I notice it every time I hear that tune.

There's a male speech sample at 1:00 in 1969 on the right channel, I heard "yeah" at first but I think it's something else.

hey saturday sun was one of those songs i never really "listened" to until very recently...
that reversed melody is so nice forwards -and- backwards, plus the intro is kinda haunting and beautiful.
and the fender sounds -great-

No problem. When I used to mess about with recordings on my old Akai ghetto blaster I found that there was always a gap between the tape touching the recording head and the record/play button being fully depressed. It was a shallow "clunk" sound - similar to this:

I would often find a similar kind of sound at the start of my recordings... and that is what I hear on Pete Standing Alone at 1:12 to 1:27 on this video: http://youtu.be/tznKkts0nG0
