Recommend me some dinner music

Hey guys; i'm a server/manager at a fancy restaurant in iowa City, IA. I'm looking for great tunes that aren't too imposing (unlike autechre, they're mad imposing) to play during dinner service. I play a lor of BoC, but the speakers here don't really do it justice. That said, songs like "satellite anthem icarus" are great for the dining atmosphere. I was looking for some other suggestions of appropriate music that's not too imposing, but isn't as boring as most of the mainstream indiepop dreck my coworkers like. Nothing too cheesy like Lemon Jelly, nothing too dark, just some stuff that's good AND relaxing. Doesn't even have to be IDM.

I think you're on the right track with Headphase thus far.
Maybe try some Tycho, he's not my favorite personally but he's relaxing. RJD2 is a hip hop instrumental artist who creates very chill songs, check that out for more beat oriented music.

Air is always good for background music. Songs like "tropical disease" "space maker" or "universal traveler".

Also Waltz for Koop by Koop is a pretty good jazzy album. It even has a song with the girl from Little Dragon. Waaay before she was showing up on SBTRKT and DJ Shadow tracks.

I'll post more ideas as they come to me.

Nightmares On Wax - Carboot Soul

Just background-ish enough but still a really enjoyable listen.

I'll never forget the time I went out for dinner with my Dad and Mrs_A_Northern_Soul and for some inexplicable reason, someone in the restaurant had decided Nico's The Marble Index would be a good choice for background music.

I work in the restaurant industry as well and would love to pick some of this music to play. I'm fairly particular when I eat and feel that classical music is often too terse and intense.. you want sexy and warm music. That said:

I love Bent's remix of billie holiday Speak Low, and Thievery Corporation's Nina Simone Feeling Good on the Verve Remixed series which is aimed at remixing classics from the bossa nova and swing music era. Some Bonobo and definitely Nightmares on Wax (obviously not all but you can pick and choose) works well too. So yeah Lemon Jelly is a bit too silly, but a lot of Acid Jazz from the late 90's and early 2000's fits the bill well. Tosca, Thievery Corp, Jazzonova, Fila Brazilia, zero 7, Air mixes are really good.

Here is my 2 cents, this type of music tends to make everyone feel sexy and hip which is really what people want to feel especially out on a date or when spending the money for an expensive dinner and hopefully all that sexy going around makes them spend more on the wine. Good for the bottom line and for the staff and tips, and keeps everyone returning for repeat business. People aren't just buying quality food they are buying an experience. (You can tell I've watched a lot of mad men)

I'm consciously impacted by music and very aware of what is being played but a lot of people don't pay much attention, it is subconscious for them, so you want something that feels good but isn't fully intrusive but affecting the subconscious ways they feel about themselves and the experience they are having.

Thanks for the recommendations. Just put on Carboot Soul and it sounds pretty tight so far. I'll get around to the other stuff eventually; nice to have something fresh.

I work as a breakfast hostess at a hotel but our customers are normally middle aged business people so the most daring I play is Nightmares on Wax and Zero 7 but if your place are more "hip" I would recommend:
