I was sat opposite you, I was a big guy with a white t-shirt on and a black cap with white writing under the peak.... Clocked the blue BOC top as soon as you walked in and I was like "That dude's got to be on Twoism!" haha small world.

Incidentally, who is in attendance this Saturday at Sadler's Wells?? Rolecall please. We need to arrange a pre/post gig beverage I feel??

It was incredible. Amazing venue - much bigger than I'd realised (held around 1600 I believe - totally sold out too). Winged Victory were visible where we were sat, up in the first circle, as they were stationed in the orchestra pit at the front of the stage.

The new material is stunning, albeit closer to SOTL in my view. Dustin's piano playing is slightly less to the fore, with the drones higher up in the over all mix as I recall. Very exciting though. Also quite amusing when Adam and Dustin joined the case for the curtain call at the end. Mr Wiltzie looked very uncomfortable taking repeated bows, running arm-in-arm with the whole cast to the front of the stage - all waaaay too showbiz for him I reckon, although he was grinning like a loon too. :lol:

Watching contemporary dance - complete with 3D multi-screen background (we were given 3D glasses when we took out seats) - alongside the music worked so well too. I've never seen dance live before and I was quite taken with it if I'm honest. Not a clue what it all meant mind. Desperately trying to avoid using the philistine's stock dance line about 'amazing athleticism' but to be honest, it's difficult. All I'll say is that they have hamstrings that you could use to restring a longbow. Jaw dropping at times.

Great to see IanRedpoint and Twoist again too. Always a pleasure gentlemen.

Excellent, I'd have loved to have gone and seen the dance performance. For me it was case of going to the "gig" or the full performance. Each was very different (and I hope they managed to iron out the wrinkles - they were still finding their way when I saw them, but that was only the second time they played it live) With the gig I had the benefit of a tiny audience and an incredibly intimate performance and some of old material, whereas you got the whole enchilada, but it certainly wasn't primarily about aWVftS

Like you I know nowt about dance, but I'd certainly like to experience it. I was pleasantly surprised to see the ticket prices were perfectly reasonable.

Really didn't know what to expect re. the dance aspect, but it was really something amazing to witness from these uninitiated eyes. My other half was in emotional bits from about a minute into the performance. She goes to Sadler's Wells quite often and dance is definitely Her Thing. I half expected to just close my eyes and listen to the music, but the combination of aWVftS's stunning score and those ten miracle-workers on stage was really quite special.

The whole evening was great, and fantastic to catch up with IanRedpoint and Mr & Mrs Mexicola

More soon please!

(and Mex, I definitely agree - the score felt far closer to SotL than I'd expected - no bad thing of course!)

You know, sometimes I fantasize that if I was a wealthy man I would be a patron of the arts. And the first thing I'd do is set up a gig for Stars of the Lid (and/or A Winged Victory.. I really love them both) at a planetarium and it would be super exclusive and I'd fly Mexicola down (because he's SOTL fan #1 undisputed) and I'd paid Wiltzie and McBride and O'Halloran a silly amount of money to do it so they'd never refuse.

And I'd fly Wiltize in from Belgium or whatever and he'd be all grumpy and talking shit about journalists but you know what - get him in front of some effects pedals and we'll be set.

And I'll ply McBride with some rare Morricone vinyl I found and O'Halloran....... not sure maybe good Italian food and whiskey. Anyways I'd be extremely persuasive and it'd be the best gig ever and afterwards we'd all go out for tacos.

Also.... sucks there's no shows in the southwest or midwest.

Should have flown out to Chicago last time.

Yeah, spotted the North-East bias to these shows after I posted to be honest. Surprised they didn't at least play some shows over on the West Coast too. I'd have thought somewhere like San Francisco would have lapped this up, not that that would help you yokels out in the mid-west :wink:

It would've worked for me (I am living in SF right now). AWVFTS came here a year or two ago but I was in Canada at the time.
