too all the people saying it's fake becasue of the "off" synth if i were fakin this track i'd try and make it sound more like the original and not go out of my way to add that over top
i dunno i think for once this seems more legit than the last couple of fakes

For all the non-doubters here is the higher quality version of audiotrack b4 (on which this fake is based).

I have contacted plisb and he will send me the entire collection of tracks as soon as he has time.
By the way I obviously feel it quite plausible that audiotrack b4 is indeed numerator - guitary, right length - but this extra synth line definitely detracts from the whole thing.

If I can just give a little judgement...

Techboy I'm just curious, your site says that upload area is to upload stuff anonymously, but it seems like you know the uploaders name and are calling him out, telling him to "come out from under his little anonymity cloak," posting what I'm assuming is his name in bold on your front page, and generally not caring that it was supposed to be anonymous. I'm just wondering how this is even good press for anyone else to potentially upload to your site now since the whole point is it's supposed to be anonymous, but your posts seemed to disregard that.

And I only say this since I do hope others use your site for future uploads.

someone raises a very valid point :)

and sorry to disappoint, but i am only the messenger. i received that file via skype file transfer (internet friend who lives in italy) some four months ago, intact with hi res artwork, tagging, etc so i have no idea where any of that came from and am not the person to ask about it. even if i was i would honestly be a bit hesitant now anyway. i don't intend to answer any questions or make any more posts/pms on this forum so i'd prefer we try to not dig up anything else with my ip address mmhmm?

and for the record i'm fairly sure the track is a fake, too, sounds very shittily eqd and the synth part sounds like a complete afterthought by whoever was working on it. too grandiose and progrocky even for their younger selves tastes. it's the cover art that made me really curious and think ''holy shit what the hell even is this" so i went and shared it because i felt i had to.
also don't know who is running that really lame base64 youtube but i imagine it's the same bored guy from these forums behind orphel binuswade or whatever. not trying nearly hard enough at whatever he's trying to do if you ask me

Eh, 128 kbps AAC is kinda a bad reference for the high quality version.

Does anyone have that "rare BoC" webpage where you can download AFOT, OT Vol. 2, and R35TT?

So why are you posting here I wonder?

The only thing mysterious about any of this, is how people can still be suckered in by it all.

well, fair enough - i agree that

but i assumed that donq was also behind this:

which led me to start looking up who the uploader was. you'll notice beforehand I just posted the artwork (had a link to the track up for about a minute before Aesthetics asked me to remove it.) ultimately that was all I really was interested in, but I guess somebody got a hold of it anyway to make the stupid yt channel with if it wasn't you. i assumed it was, though, and it was suddenly a lot less like "i wonder where the guy got that artwork?" and a lot more like "that is lame as fuck, what are you doing?" it wasn't me who posted the youtube video, remember, and i quite strongly agreed with Ae that the best thing is to not post any uploaded tracks unless i can be 100% sure they are real.

well, fair enough. if you wouldn't mind asking your friend where the artwork came from then that'd be great. but i guess you're happier just lurking and i spose that is fine.

p.s. i actually replied to a totally unrelated pm of yours from, like, months ago

anyway, Gevel:

it occured to me pretty quickly after putting it up that having an anonymous upload feature on rareboc.ax.lt is a double edged sword - maybe more people are likely to upload genuine stuff to me, but it also means that I am potentially going to wake up to 10 emails from my web server saying "new upload to listen to" when really it's just a fake i've heard a billion times before, or make judgement calls on new fakes - i'm pretty good at being skeptical and was already convinced this was a fake before it even made its way onto youtube. in general there wouldnt be many questions to ask someone who uploaded a genuine album leak, other than "moar?" but you can see that one track with artwork like that is a total tease and begs a thousand questions.

anyway, in response to the full thing i think i'll put a compulsory questionnaire on the dropbox page. "where did you get this track", "would you like to leave your contact details", "do you intend to upload anything else", kind of thing. just so i dont have thousands of questions to ask somebody who I can identify only by IP, haha.

9 days since i put that dropbox online and already controversy over fake tracks. gotta love it, twoism.

I'm not sure I agree with you-
http://web.archive.org/web/200411120236 ... d/Rarities

Actually a lot more was known about R35TT around the time it came out than is generally known now. People like moebius, opothecary, phaelam seem to be quite on top of it all but other than that, not really.

"In terms of quality, I would say the 192k set sounds the best, followed by the 128k and closely then by the 320k. Both the 192k and 128k versions have more tape hiss than the 320k, but a bit more detail. It's most noticible in the guitar tracks."

And yet, trying to find anything other than the 320k version of r35tt is nigh on fucking impossible, because most people just went "meh bitrate" and kept the 320k version only. If I had the 192k version, that is what would be on rareboc.ax.lt. Clearly whoever made this numerator track has it, hence my curiosity to find them. r35tt is my favourite boc release, believe it or not, so i'm pretty hopeful that eventually I will get it :P

I'm not sure if R35TT is my overall favorite, but it's definitely their most intriguing compilation of music, and my favorite of the non commercially available releases. It's not just the mystery factor, I think musically it fits nicely inbetween the most primitive and most recent material on the OT tapes, and I love those too. Those tapes always seemed like their castoffs, but compiled from the material that seemed most relevant to their overall sound in 1995. It's so great to hear their songwriting/overall style applied with some unexpected instrumentation.

I feel like I've been on a 15 year chase for this stuff, I can still remember downloading the vinyl rip of Twoism from Napster and wondering when all that other stuff would surface. If you told me that I'd still be looking for this stuff in 2013, and people would be creating fake versions, it would have been too much to take!

I've always taken an Occam's Razor approach to this tape that it pretty much has to be a blend of the currently known unavailable releases with a little OT mixed in - what else would it be? mdg giving it the blessing of legitimacy is all I that I ever needed to draw that conclusion.

FWIW my copy is the 128k version from around the time I first came across it. Wish I had that 192k version myself.

I would be quite interested if the 128k rip made its way into the aforementioned http://rareboc.ax.lt/dropbox.php ;P p.s. I sent you a PM yesterday. I know we all use pop up blockers in this day and age.....

Well as Techboy realizes, I have been listening to a 128k downconverted rip of the 320k version for years now. Sorry my copy was no help to him, but at least my R35TT got better today!

It seems like whoever put up that youtube track had to be someone here that Techboy PMd the song to, unless that time frame where the link was public was longer than 10 minutes or whatever. I can't imagine how else they got a hold of the track and immediately had it ready for upload when it was only mentioned here but not posted publicly.

Anyway, next time another fake comes up(probably within the next week at this rate), I'll be sure to immediately respond with "guys, i think this is it" just to keep the tradition going. :)

Would like to dismiss this as another fake, but the image is what catches my eye. I took the highest quality album art (200x200) into Photoshop, clone stamping the old text out, and adding newer, clearer text. I spent an hour on it and couldn't achieve anything as close as the video's, so I'm just going to wait and see.
"I don't know, it makes it me nervous. I still, um, I still dream about it. I don't know, I just wish it had never happened. I regret the whole thing... the whole ... the whole thing goes over and over."

BoC could have gotten the image from somewhere (like a magazine ad or something) and the person that uploaded the fake could have just found where it's from and scanned it in.
