Peel Sessions Repeat

Possibly not news worthy, but 6Music repeated the Peel Session Saturday night, with XYZ and the original session version of Happy Cycling. You can hear it for the next 5 days from the 39.08 mark. Shame about the talking over the start of Happy Cycling, but XYZ is full and complete, though crossfades into Aquarius - is this new?

Happy cycling sounds sped up to me??? Not too sure why or how this could be but it actually sounds pretty good!

Just double checked and it's almost definitely a different version to the one on my peel sessions record.

Oh yeah, like, the original post says, this is the original version of Happy Cycling.

Wow, this is too weird, I was just - literally seconds ago - looking at some old thread about this topic. But how on earth could you mistype "XYZ" as "XYX"?

It's even listed in their library on the 6music page on last.fm as XYX. I know because I was looking at what BoC tracks have been played before and noticed that. Someone at the BBC screwed up.

That version of Happy Cycling is the only one I've ever heard played on 6music and it's a shame because it's a bit worse than the studio recording IMO.

Whilst I agree that the version of Happy Cycling is generally inferior, I really like the oscillating choir part at the start that comes across a lot heavier and more unnerving.

"Whilst" I think that's an awful word to start a post with, i like the heavier choir too. Someone told me the choir is from JC Superstar. Anyone verify?

Would love to hear more of the banter between BoC and John. Is the clip before XYZ the only time we've ever heard them speak? Can't recall another off the top of my head.

Yeah. If you want I know a guy who can do a right good John Peel impression, and I can put on a daft Edinburgh accent and he can say "So when are you releasing the old tunes?" and I'll be like "We're just off down the pub actually!"
