I love beck. I always like his more popular early stuff (see Where It's At, Loser, etc..)

But then I heard Little One off his Sea Change album. Completely warped my view of him, and now I hunt for his stuff regularly. Glad to see he has new stuff coming out.

Beck's probably my favourite artist. His discography is the most consistent of any other musician I've known.

8 albums and all of them at least good? with 5 being pretty much perfect?
that's good enough for me.

The new track sounds wonderful, too. I'm really quite excited.

Love the new one.

I've been a big fan for years too. Yet to top Mutations for me - I love that album.

I'm digging this new track as well.

I've been loving these singles that he put out last year also:

Beck - I Won't Be Long

Beck - Gimme

Beck - Defriended

Similar to BoC, he also has a TON of early recordings that makes for a pretty interesting listening.

I'm just gonna pretend this is the Beck appreciation thread.
(EDIT : oops, you're right TTK, I guess I kinda forgot the first sentence in this thread)

Finally got a hold of Sea Change. It's incredible. The production, his melancholy singing.. You can really hear the sort of desperate longing this album's conveying through his voice. Little One (track 11) nails it.

I do love quite a bit from Beck. Even the songs on the Song Reader are top quality. Shame most of the youtube/soundcloud covers of those tunes are so boring and lame. Here's my favorite Pre-Mellow Gold track:

Amazing album, not really similar to Sea Change but it stands by its own. And I love its cyclic nature, it does feel like a whole phase.

I can't wait for this, definitely my favourite artist, would really love to see him play an acoustic set live.

I know Pitchfork is not very well liked around here but I actually do read it a lot, and as I was reading their Morning Phase review I thought how funny it is that they never give Beck's music a good score. Pretty much all of his albums are rated way lower than any of their hyped indie acts using the most ridicule excuses. Sea Change apparently is bad because the rhymes on the lyrics suck, and this new album sucks because the production is too nice and sounds like Nigel Goodrich. His great collection of songs Stray Blues suck because it's not cheap, even though it's the only review I have ever read that takes into account the price of the EP to judge how good it is. And everything he has made since 1996 sucks because it's not Odelay, except for Gûero which sucks because it's somehow similar to it. Come on Pitchfork, you just don't like Beck, admit it.

I never read pitchfork. far too biased it's funny. I think the new beck album is fantastic, and for me very well could be AOTY.
