Yeah, I just found The Bear and the Sea by accident one day on BandCamp... their album Trees Like You is a free download... look it up and get it.... Crystal Swords is my favorite track from that one. the second half is great.
I hate when people compare Black Moth Super Rainbow to BoC.
BoC keep it real and speak their mind naturally through music. BMSR do have some good tracks, but I don't like bands who have that "look how quirky and lo-fi we are" image. It just feels so contrived.

All of this petty Bloods Vs. Crips bullshit needs to fly. The two forums just have 2 different styles of communication. One is a bit more sarcastic and one is a bit more laid back, but both are full of intelligent people that appreciate the same types of music. Lots of member cross forums anyway. It's all about the music.

Yep pretty much agree with everything you just said man, and it was a joy discovering your tracks and finding someone on the same wavelength, but I think it applies to us all. We are all just recreating the distant memories and photographs we have had of our youth and its cool because everyone's take on it will obviously be different

You think BMSR is contrived? IDK, I never really hear them compared to BoC except for maybe that their music congers up some nostalgic feelings, but other than that, they have a totally different and unique sound. There is nothing out there that sounds like that except for them. Very bold and bright. And Tobacco is a really cool guy. I don't think he's trying to be prtentious.... He just is quirky and lo-fi. But hey, to each his own.
Glide by Manual and the rest of the awash ep obviously has a HUGE sprinkling of Boards jizz but the result is sublime. If anybody hasn't heard the EP I highly recommend it and was one of my favourite buys from last year

just heard his new one, Awake, first track 'Awake' is very good, it goes downhill from there, nothing stands out. No wonder he called it Awake, that is the only good track on it imo. Its very hmm digital plastic sounding, overblown, almost cheesy in parts but hey.
Some moods are accomplished in some Autechre/Gescom/Tycho and stuff of the likes but You can't even accurately hold anyone to the same pedestal as BOC.

I find that most of the artists that get lumped in with BoC (including their labelmates like Ae) have completely different influences and musical styles. The fact that two musicians use some of the same tools (samplers, synths, etc.) does not make their music similar.
I have listened to a little bit of the music from a few of these 'clones.' None of it transports me to a psychedelic wonderland of memories and visions the way BoC's music does.
