How many of you "listen" to music..

Pretty much drooling at those PS1000's, and there is me thinking I'm all high end with my AKG's

i find myself after a long day of work in the bathtub, listening to music without any distraction.

i really enjoy listening to music for the first time with headphones on, and then hearing it while playing in the car and noticing the difference. or vice versa, hearing music for the first time through a stereo or car speakers, and then listening again on your own time with headphones and noticing all the background noise\effects that are tougher to pick on when listening on a stereo.

Not a silly question at all.
As a producer myself , I find it difficult to listen to something without taking it apart.
Its probably the same for every producer , in that we find ourselves isolating everything except the bassline , transitions , effects used etc.....
I listen to anything and everything , and my philosophy is " eat the apple and spit the pips out" because every genre , whether its punk , metal , classical , dubstep or whatever , have their good and bad points , so , for me , listening is also learning.
I remember sitting down with Leftfields "rhythm and stealth" , headphones , notebook and pen , taking note of everything good I heard , not to recreate it like a parrot , but to open my mind further and stretch my imagination.
I don't think its possible to be a great musician / producer , without some degree of humility , to learn from the past so you can imagine better future music

Yeah it would be hugely insincere not to acknowledge any prior influence. In order to progress, you must learn from the past.

Music just sounds so much more powerful when you focus on it. I am so happy I bought a nice sound system, the benefits have been incredible.
