Could this be a farewell?

Post by Valotonin »

Apologies in advance for being the one to suggest this. It is however a worst case scenario kind of theory.

Do you think that boards would formally announce it if they decided to stop releasing music to the public?

Something about TH just had a kind of send off, credits rolling, tears looming we would like to say goodbye kind of feeling to it.

I would desperately like someone to prove me wrong and put it down to pessimism.
The thought of no more boards is not a nice one, but there is still an underlying feeling.

Again, not the nicest of subjects to bring up and there will always be hope.
I'm reasonably sure that there is plenty more to come, but what if?

We know there's more coming, they said they're not going to stop making music any time soon so they most definitely won't stop releasing it too. This definitely is not farewell.

(And yes, it's been a year and we all want new stuff. Hold tight. It'll come.)

They seem like the kind of group that has loads of music in the vault, just ready to finesse into a new album or track for release. A lot is probably raw material and ideas but there is likely a lot of near finished stuff.

I dont know where this memory comes from but...

I believe with the release of tomorrows harvest, BoC fulfilled their contractual obligations with WARP. There MIGHT be another EP in there, but I really have no clue.
Now, that does not mean that they are finished making music, just up for another signing.

Boards have indeed said they will never stop making music, but that does not mean they will always release it.

Something I havent been able to stop thinking about though is something they said in an interview. Something along the lines of "BoC is the tip of the iceberg" which makes me think theyre interested in film making and other art, shit maybe even paintings.
But I find it highly unlikely that they will make it known to us that they are responsible for this film or that drawing, because they want people to appreciate it for what it is, not because its from the guys who make up BoC. Im almost certain they will use a fake name. So, how do we know that they have not already done something like this, and its just waiting to be discovered?

Sorry for the random block o text

They should still be on the hook for one more album with Warp. I'd like to see them self-release a boxed set of their early releases once that happens. After all, they made that music on their own without any label involvement, they should see all the proceeds too.

BoC said that they have over 1000 songs. They have songs that didn't make albums, they have old songs, unreleased mix tapes and even acoustic albums. I'm hoping it gets released soon because otherwise it's lost forever

The same could be said about TCH - Farewell Fire - a few people suggested that were the case then and we got TH. From the interviews it seems clear they've been working on their studio - i'd be quietly confident they have a fair few records in them yet

yea they said they're spending more time than usual in the studio now after they expanded it, perhaps they moved to a new location and made a bigger studio. they also said regarding 'live' - "never say never".

Word. The whole "we spent years remaking the studio to make it easier and better to make more delicious tunes" thing pretty easily leads to more music. Not necessarily more released, but I bet that's pretty likely too. :)

This is a band that's also stated they've spent ~3 months/weeks (whatever it was) on a hihat and teases their fanbase with a black square.

I wouldn't take their proclamation that they've got 1000 tracks or just about anything else seriously until you see it.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

Lol, did they really? Source? I mean, they're one of my top bands, but... why is that even necessary

YES 8)

Also thank you for the reassurance, people.

I had heard something about this being the final album on the current contract and started getting myself worried.

Back to anticipating a new EP it is then :D

Jesus Christ. If Aphex Twin hasn't put out anything in a while does it mean that's he's done with music?

And even if BoC would stop releasing music, that would be their decision.

Give it another year, maybe 2, and we'll see an EP or something crop up. Tomorrow's Harvest is its own entity, it's definitely BoC's most (clearly) concept-driven album, so there likely won't be a related EP in Trans Canada Highway style, meaning anything new probably won't come out soon, think of it more as ABPOITC being released after MHTRTC.

I think it's likely that he'll release something on the 20th anniversary of druqks since he's waited this long.
