Make mine an ice cold Mac and Jack's African Amber, a local brew out of Seattle. I met the brewers a couple of years back. Great guys. I'm not much for beer, but I love that stuff.
Local is always good. Seattle by all rights is a great beer town...big fan of Elysian, especially Space Dust.

Macro American beer is all kind of samey and undrinkable, although people who like it seem to be pretty loyal to whatever brand of schwill they're into - that's the power of advertising I guss.
I do wish I could get into Guinness but I've always tended more toward the hoppier beers rather than stouts or porters. Like someone else mentioned, Sam Adams is decent...its a nice gateway into better American beer, I always have a little in my fridge to keep my non beer geek friends happy when they visit.
Drinking an American take on a barleywine right now, drinking one of has always been a Christmas Eve tradition.
Think of it as a mass produced version of a micro brew. It isn't so mass produced as the worst of our beers, but it isn't exactly a small operation. Somewhere in between.
I agree 100%. There are (to my taste) much better products being brewed here than Sam, but you may have to look around a bit to find them.

Been listening to the old tapes a lot recently and I for one am roasting for more from that eerie, minimal 'turquoise' period (pre-Twoism thru to MHTRTC), and not on cassette either - I want to hear it clean and close.
2002 was an incredible year for BOC fans with 'Geogaddi's release consolidated by the 'Twoism' reissue. But now almost a decade since first official word on the fabled 'Bocset' I'm wondering if its gone from 'low priority' to no priority...?! Any crumbs you can throw us please MDG??
(not sure what I'd give to hear the results of all their 'archiving' and remastering, but polishing left nut just in case )

Rather than a proper release of the pre-Twoism material that most of us have heard already, I'd be much more excited for BOC to put out a comp of more recent stuff we've never heard - the other 70-odd tracks from the Geogaddi sessions and other album offcuts. Some of the unknown live tracks definitely sound to me like they'd fit on Geogaddi and are some of my favourite ever BOC songs, especially Warp10 track 6 and ATP track 2.

Not quite sure why people want a "proper" release of the pre-Twoism stuff. I'd much rather hear the unheard post-Twoism stuff!!
