Would it be such a bad thing to share the music with the public and defang the ability of a potential seller to sell it for thousands privately (instead of say, hundreds if the music was publicly available)

Does BoC need anyone to white knight them? They seem to generally be nonchalant about having Old Tunes freely available at rareboc and they haven't made any moves to release the material themselves or stop others from "trading the tapes" so to speak. It really only becomes an issue when people try to personally capitalize on the material and having it out in the public reduces the ability to do so to a certain extent.

Prior to Twoism being reissued, it was announced that Warp had purchased the rights to their entire back catalog - why make that move and then do nothing with it? Do they regret that move, does the catalog revert to them when their album contract is finally up? No one really knows but them.

Probably the 192, but i'd go with the remasters as they incorporate both.

I don't know how remastering works but those remasters are said to originate from the mp3's. If that's the case, was any audio information lost in the remastering process? For instance by removing hiss, didn't they also remove musical bits? Was the remastering just an artificial version of the song or did it legitimately improve the quality?

Actually in the 320, side B has been remastered by someone unskilled and they have lost large amounts of musical bits. In the remaster, /some/ but not /all/ tracks were remastered from the 192/256 and therefore still have the "missing bits" intact.

I don't think that would include any of the Old Tunes material. None of it was ever officially released. The old albums, however? Yes, I imagine Warp bought those. It would explain why they were on the old website for a while. However, Random 35 as we know it might be a different story. If Random 35 is the old albums, we will probably never hear those songs unless Warp gives the go ahead.

Funny you asked about it, I've got a question in the same kind of spirit for yall: what's your take on discussing R35TT? I've sorta got mixed feelings. The 'mystery' has held me for a long time, and I've done digging off and on along the way. I've gotten to a point where I've sort of narrowed down possibilities about its origins, and I'd like some fresh eyes/ideas at some point, but the idea of talking about the topic sometimes makes me feel like it's something the guys might prefer not be done. If you feel like it's not off-limits, what do you think is the best form for it to take (this thread, a new one or old sorta-related one, bocpages discussion (kinda dead), somewhere else)?

BoC cave in Scotland...

Fingal's Cave

Staffa Island is an uninhabited island off the coast of Scotland. It’s host to several sea caves, the most famous being Fingal’s Cave. It is also called Uamh Binh, or Cave of Melody. Fingal’s Cave is 70 meters (227 ft) long and is made entirely of interlocking hexagonal pillars of basalt—similar to those found at the Giants’ Causeway—possibly formed by prehistoric lava flow and a tumultuous sea. In 1829, composer Felix Mendelssohn visited Fingal’s cave, and the sound of the waves inside became the inspiration for his Hebrides Overture. He didn’t enjoy the trip much though; Mendelssohn got seasick.

and I know my perspective may be a bit more radical but I don't even own a copy of the random track tape. BoC has hinted that they are going to release their back catalog and I don't think they'd even bring it up if it wasn't their intention.

I really believe whether its next year or a couple its going to happen.

WHOA QUESTION who were the first people to receive the old tunes tapes, like does anyone have any idea who BOC gave them to originally? I've heard it was close friends and family members but WHY would they sell it/pass it on after that, did they just not know their value at the time? Or did BOC somehow insert the tapes into places where they could be sold on?

Just watched the film Collapse about Michael Ruppert, a former police officer and investigative journalist, labelled a conspiracy theorist and 'doomer' because of his views on peak oil, overpopulation, environmental degradation, economic collapse and so on.
Now familiar stuff to anyone taking an interest in the world over the past decade, but it's compelling viewing anyway, someone who has essentially sacrificed himself to his obsession and you end up thinking, if he's even half right, we're completely fucked. He talks about why we're screwed and what you can do about it after the collapse.
Sadly, now rendered poignant by the fact that he killed himself in April this year.
Anyway, mentioned it on this thread because I'd speculate that it's almost certainly an influence on Tomorrow's Harvest.
Reminded me of the books Endgame parts 1 and 2 by Derrick Jensen and documentary 'What a Way to Go - Life at the End of Empire (which Jensen appears in), which preceded Collapse and touches on the same topics. Both of which I thoroughly recommend, by the way.
I wondered at the time of TH's release if Endgame was an influence as well.

Yeah, to me the connection is a no-brainer. BoC's interviews promoting TH never mentioned him, but the nihilistic remarks they gave definitely parallel Ruppert's outlook. I don't necessarily believe that the bros buy into everything he wrote or talked about, but having a track called "Collapse" in addition to their interviews made it a pretty easy connection to make.

There was also a Sick Times fake which has now been taken down unfortunately.

Can't remember where to find the others. There were a few that were quite good on their own.

Yeah so many of them were actually really nice pieces. This was the video I had in mind, but there was also a kind of burgundy coloured one with some figure emerging from the ether, that was cool. Another one was a video based around footage of a swimming pool, though I am not sure if that was tied into the TH campaign. It got dragged up not so long ago, but I can't remember which thread, it was the best BoC fake I've seen/heard.
