this is my first time listening to this stuff, I know it's been floating around for a long time.
Circle on that Soundcloud is weird. Seems too sped up compared to the "official" sample and House of Abin'adab. Let's face it, that sample sounds awful. The drum track on Focus on the Spiral sounds too clean and boring (for lack of better terms) to be real, but I guess I want to believe. The synth part sounds like it could be real, but it also sounds like it could be just a good imitation. Although 20+ years ago, I guess BoC very well could have sounded like the people trying to emulate/fake them today.
In a way, all of the purported Closes Vol. 1 tracks sound too "good" for their era, but what do I know? I'm used to their sampling style on the OT tapes and Close3 somehow seems too subtle and well done compared to that.
I guess I have a set idea in my head of what I think Closes Vol. 1 material should sound like based on R35TT A14 (Godever) and other material from that tape that seems like it could be in the same ballpark. It's easy to imagine what else sounds comparable to A14 from that tape, but obviously there is music from Closes Vol. 1 that we still haven't heard at all.
I think R35TT could be too ingrained in my psyche to accept anything else claiming to be from that era outside of official channels without overwhelming accompanying evidence (something like a scan of back cover artwork, a tape, whatever)
EDIT: Focus on the Spiral is in my head now

I'm 100% sure these are all fakes, The remix of "How Will I Know" sounded pretty real too.
Really MDG doesn't have to be here all the time telling us whether something is fake or not. You really think a band's friend would use a name like Transmissiones Rodox?

A friend of BOC probably wouldn't share their tracks for fear of getting their legs broken and being sacrificed to the evil bonfire spirit Geogaddi. I don't want to propagate fake BOC, I just didn't want these supposed tracks to be completely forgotten about in case they are legit. I'm pretty doubtful too but Close3 sounded really close to the background synth on '5D' so I don't know what to believeNajlepsiejszy wrote:Then I'm even more sure that these are fakesanecdote wrote:Najlepsiejszy wrote: I know...?

does anyone know where the hell the soulseek Godever file is? i suppose if it is of similar quality, or even the exact same bitrate and encoded with the same software it could be inferred that these were ripped by the same person. that's really the only way these could be confirmed 100%, hypothetically speaking of course
i mean as a guy who's done a few fakes in the past i've always wondered about these. well beyond my capabilities anyway

Has anyone asked Chaosmachine if these were his? He made a lot of really good fakes so there is a chance they might be his.
