Personally, I always felt Hi-Scores had more in common with MHTRTC.
To me, IABPOITC always stood by itself. Something a bit more calming and under control before the dark storm of Geogaddi.
I wouldn't be surprised if BoC's next release was a notable contrast to TH.

I like the hazy, VHS sheen of TCH (&TCH) - it's definitely a different sound to the other releases. Funnily enough I thought 747 was in the same vein and maybe we were up for more of that when TH came out.
So I seem to recall reading in an interview somewhere that the brothers considered IABPOITC to be (or just kind of was for one reason or another) a continuation of MHTRTC but they were kind of caught up with the golden ratio and decided they needed to make an album about that instead so they made Geogaddi. Did I actually read that in an interview or am I making this shit up?
It occurred to me that maybe noatakmoon was referring to this interview but maybe got the details wrong or something...
It does seem to me that there are some tracks from Geogaddi that seem like they belong to IABPOITC and some of the live tracks from 1999 / 2000 seem like they also belong to IABPOITC. I have a fantasy of them re-releasing IABPOITC as a full length with all those unreleased tracks from that era.
Perhaps this next question belongs in a different thread but am I correct in that the live version of Sunshine Recorder seems to have some of the cut up vocals from Telephasic Workshop...making it a kind of continuation of that... Hmmm...

huh. I assumed the new album would be most like the last one (Trans Canada Highway) and all the songs would be massive layered songs like Skyliner. It sort of was, but not at all in the way I imagined

yup. i dont know about a continuation, but it sure sounds good with those vocals.
