Plastikman EX

I picked up this album a couple of weeks ago and while I'm currently listening to it (my 4th time), I'm rather underwhelmed. Everything sounds stock, (look, I know what synths do...), the tempo is just too slow and there is nothing inspriring me except EXpire.

Have I missed something here? I fucking love techno, ecpecally minimal, but this album is just not giving.

I found out this existed just last week. Whole album is officially up on youtube for streaming. I listened to about 30 minutes so far... Sounds wonderful, right off the bat.

Are you familiar with other Plastikman albums?

Stock or non-stock it all sounds good to me. had it on repeat in my car for about two weeks and i'm not bored yet.

Went out and bought it. The packaging's got layered die-cut artwork and green foil lettering. The credits are printed in clear gloss on top of a matte picture so you can only read them if you're holding them at the right angle. Very nice.

Yeah, ever since Consumed came out in '98 Plastikman has been all concerned with the "space between the notes", slowing down his productions, stretching them out, filling them with echo. His music intentionally uses a restricted palette which is pretty amazing since the variations never become boring (at least to me).

Yeah... you guys. Didn't mean to cause controversy about the whole thing. I've started playing it again recently and enjoying it... but I've heard better sets in Hiroshima by Japanese DJ's. I might be approaching this album in the wrong way. And yes, the packaging was beautiful. Not a single fault to be had in the set but yet there is just something missing. I can't put my finger on it. There is not a single moment on the album that makes me lose my shit. I expected more. What that is, I really don't know.
