The old id games still conjure nostalgia in me (Doom, Castle Wolfenstein, Quake.) I liked the music in the silent hill series as well.

The Quake soundtrack by NiN is very good. The original Half-Life soundtrack was also good.Cupz wrote:What's your favorite game music...
My favorite, though, was definitely the original Unreal soundtrack. Wonderful ambient mod tracks that sounded ahead of their time. The samples were extremely low quality for bandwidth reasons, so it probably sounds a little dated now, but it in no way takes away from the music. If you've never listened to it before I highly recommend it, especially with the solid electronic fan base on this forum.
Necros (Andrew Sega), one of the musicians who provided music for Unreal had a very popular mod track called "Point of Departure" on the web back in '96 that still sounds amazing today. You can download it here: http://www.modarchive.com/cgi-bin/downl ... /P/pod.s3m. You'll also need a mod player, so here: http://www.roncli.com/modplug/download.asp?FileID=3. Definitely worth a listen.
