Towards the end of Happy Cycling
Hey guys, been awhile since i posted anything. For the last week, Iv been listening to happy cycling over and over and over.... I have no idea why but its like iv just herd it for the first time.. Its always been one of the songs that I would listen to half way or skip for some reason.. But anyways im in love with this part of the song.. Its towards the end, when the french horn, or is it a trombone starts to play, it only plays afew notes over and over but it just gives me gooseybumps. Anyone else ever listen to this song just for that part lol.

Personally, I like the seagull cry syncing up with the tempo.

I used to do that with some BoC songs when I started out, like EYDIAB for example. Then I figured out allot of their work takes a bit of sitting through for a bit. The flows of some of the songs reflect this. There isn't a hell of allot going on in an obvious-song-structure way, especially in their older work. Some of them just sort of go on and on and you can get a taste for them if you hang in there and keep going with the flow. The best way to figure out if I like a song is listening to it subconsciously, then "waking up" to it halfway through. I found out amon bishop roden is actually a really cool track that way after not liking it for so long.Taint3dBulge wrote:I would listen to half way or skip for some reason..

This was Rue the Whirl for me. It was a song I always ended up skipping and until recently I didn't appreciate all the great subtle changes that happen through the track. Regarding Happy Cycling though...throw that on while driving down a nighttime highway.I used to do that with some BoC songs when I started out, like EYDIAB for example.

i believe the title "happy cycling" has something to do with albert hoffman and his discovery of lsd. i believe he said he was riding his bike home when the effects really hit him.
anyway. for years and years i skipped this track as well. finding it too repetitive. then i began to notice some of the incredible tones and effects that ride along the background of the track. one of the sounds always reminds me of this cheesy friday the 13th video game for nintendo.

Interesting you bring up the last part of happy cycling. The last minute and a half always makes me think of Synergy (Larry Fast). It's so random and most probably have no idea what I'm talking about but it certainly hooked me for good when MHTRTC first came out.

Forgot i posted this long ago.
Yes it sounds like something someone that didnt appreciate there music would do. Iv been listening since 2000, and sometimes I just want to hear a certain part, like if im driving and only have a 5 minute trip to the store lol.. Anyways Hope they come out with another cd in the next year or 2.. I would hate to wait 5 years for another one to come out again..

Wouldnt waiting another 5 years make it so much better once it was finally released (just like TH)?

*farts*
idk
idk
MHTRTC had a number of these cool ending parts. Rue the Whirl I felt was the same way, Pete Standing Alone, Sixtyten's outro vignette...many of the tracks have nice segments at the end. I feel like Happy Cycling is such a perfect closing track for an album like MHTRTC.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.
