Maybe they did make one for Tomorrow's Harvest, that's why it took so darn long.
You never know if they're just cinematic movies, no dialog just films of nature and such with editing.
(Kind of like that Julie and Candy video.)

edit - another thought that just came to my head: what if BoC has a Music70/Hexagon Sun physical mailing list? like all of the members signed up for it and BoC sends them new unreleased music or other unreleased merch, i mean what if theres some members who moved away from where BoC is and can only meet them every redmoon party so they have to resort to being sent new music rather than being handed it. i dont know, maybe im just so admired by the m70/hexsun secrecy that its making me think more about what they do under the radar . :o

I skip palace posy almost 90% of the times..

But the thing is, some songs are not that great, but the album as a whole makes the songs better than they would've been stand-alone. So it's always a bit weird to condemn single BOC songs... As I feel BOC are more of an Album band.

Palace Posy is still hard to listen to btw

when i first began listening to tomorrows harvest, palace posy came completely out from left field, and i didnt really understand its fit on the album.

but i began to view the track differently. its kind of like your watching a movie on television, and then when shit is beginning to hit the fan, theres a commerical. well i kind of feel like palace posy is almost like a commercial\break from the darkness of the record. it even seems like the moment palace posy ends and split your infinities begins, the album is back on track. almost like the commerical break ended. and the movie is back.

i disagree in calling it an interlude, only because its so far off from the flow of the rest of the album.

out of all boc's official lp's. i cant think of any other track that goes as far off track as palace posy.

Yeah, that's kind of the point. The reason a thread like this exists. People can post opinions without things like hypothetical lists and positions of things consuming their hobby, talk about it in a "categorical" kind of way. Sorry it bothers you.

Zeoevil's post doesn't really "show" anything.

He came into the thread posting in accordance with the subject matter.

Someone said it was contentious and this isn't my first day having read the things he's expressed here. I thought the person who considered his post that was completely in line with the thread contentious must have missed some of his more...opinionated posts in other threads, as that was nothing. At least not until the second post. He had NOT as it turns out seen those posts as he is "fairly new".

He also said it was the most controversial opinion expressed so far...which is the point. I guess if you guys want to debate each other about your subjective opinions then you can, but the guy apparently finds x not as good as x. Leave it alone, it's just an opinion. At the same time, someone's threshold for breaking shouldn't be one post.

To add a personal note: that one particular album is ranked above all the others for me not because of "magical experiences". It's because it has zero filler on it (to me), is a layering fan's dream and is the immediate thing that comes to mind when I think "Boards of Canada". That's just me. I know some people who can't listen to Geogaddi and yet claim to love it. Everyone feels different about everything, obviously.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

These are things ive felt, and never really had a good thread to put it, probably not really "controversial"

Campfire is like the first tier of their music. I put that on for people who have never listened to the band before. Music has the right is the most widely accepted album amongst listeners. Geogaddi is only for the true fans (like Beck-Mutations), people who dont know the band usually say "the fuck are we listening to?".

And then there's Tomorrows. I have no fucking clue how this album fits. I still dont "get" it like the other albums. Its kind of driving me crazy. I straight up didnt like it at first. It has definitely grown on me a whole lot.

here goes nothing:
palace posy is bad
i only liked a few of the tracks off of MHTRTC
Geogaddi is their best official album, by far
i really really like one very important thought (boc maxima version)
to the wind is probably their best track
the old tunes version of trapped is better then the mask version
Julie and candy is kind of boring, not many changes
in the annexe is probably the best thing off of their official releases
i thought TCH was magnificent
...and skyliner is extremely good
hi scores (track) isn't very good
and, also...
boc will release a rarites/unreleased box set in the next 3 years
Dude, have you heard the new EVANESENCE?

It does seem like there is some controversy for the sake of controversy and maybe some intentional pushing of buttons going on in this thread. Can we get it back on track?

Two new thoughts:

- something intangible was lost when they started families. Not our place to speculate on the specifics, but two things they did very well (melody and chaos) were in short supply on TCH. Maybe more stable or comfortable personal lives led to them playing it a little more safe in the studio. I like TH because overall its a little more dangerous and there's even some melodic fan service with Nothing is Real.

- we will see their old/unavailable music reissued in a comprehensive way someday, but probably not until they absolutely have to. Never say never, stranger things have happened. Ever think you'd see Mark Hamill suit up as Luke Skywalker again?

I feel like they'll reissue it all when they're working long on a new project or when they're low on money (which probably won't happen for a while.) Maybe there's some embarrassing stuff on their older releases that they've recently found that's making them not want to reissue older stuff, maybe some of older unreleased tunes sound exactly like the tunes we've already heard and they want to avoid releasing them as much as possible, who knows. I mean we're really begging for Acid Memories, Play By Numbers, etc. after all, not ALL of their older stuff.

I seriously wouldn't think that they earn that much money. In some interviews I think that they've complained about kids downloading music off the Internet, thus not letting artists profit off of their own work.

Aphex had to play live shows for money and has even released a CD called: 26 MIXES FOR CASH. And Aphex is way more popular than BoC, I think.

Being an artist is not very profitable unless you sign to a big label. Then, even though you get, I dunno? 5% from each CD? you get promoted enough to sell lots of records and earn lots of money

No, but its fairly clear that the premise of this thread is controversial opinions.

I don't think BOC make music to pay the bills, maybe I'm wrong but I've always had the opinion they don't struggle for cash (don't ask me why lol). I think they are more arguing the point that music is devalued, considered worthless if it is just given out for free.

I think that any money they may have aside from their careers as musicians, they seem to live a reclusive/rural existence. Seems like the human tendency is when you make more money, you usually spend more money but that's not really them.

If they can get away with licensing Dayvan Cowboy every couple years to an ad or TV show and can pay their bills without touring or selling their old material...more power to them I guess! I wouldn't object to live shows or archives of unreleased material though. ;)

Picturing the brothers as ostentatious is quite funny. Can you imagine them driving a Ferrari or something.

I relistened to TCH and TH today.

I've come to the conclusion that TH is their worst album so far. At least TCH has '84 Pontiac Dream which puts a lump in my throat every time I hear it.
