Well we just HAVE to be skeptical about this, but it would be cool if it turned out true.

This is NO guarantee that they will play other shows people. They have said in interviews that they get offers to play festivals ALL THE TIME and always turn them down. If they were playing a fest, its highly unlikely theyd jet off to mexico to play it. MAYBE because they want to play a show in the desert or something to tie into TH, but thats a big maybe.

ALSO aphex said in an interview for his new album syro that he will probably not be playing live under the aphex twin name in the future, because he wants to be able to have some freedom to play shit and not just be aphex and expected to play this or that.

the fact that swans and grimes aren't performing anywhere near mexico around november pretty much confirms the fact that this poster (atleast the big names) are probably bullshit.

I think the festival is March next year. Not saying it's genuine, mind. Seems unlikely.

mexico? get serious....who wants to go and get their heads cut off or get taken hostage.

pipe dream show. dreamt up by the dude that photshopped the poster
is all the mexico is so savagely wrong? that's a big country

If it is real, then there will most likely be other N. American dates around this one. It would be very unlikely that they would do a one off in Mexico. They have a LOT of N. American fans too...well worth a N. American tour.

I am still not convinced this is real. I will believe when its published on Warp's site or Bleep or their own site.
I understand you, a tour makes more sense, but I just think that prerogative, in theory, should be uk, in my logical sense
i drove around mexico on a surf trip...and I've never seen so many machine guns and military check points. the drug route runs straight through mex, and the drug war rages on.
can't see too many folks wanting to take that adventure.

as far as a tour...why start now? doesn't seem like something thats a high priority on the to do list...with three live shows in total since the first release. feels unlikely at best.

It's possible the guy who designed the flyer/poster used all, or most, of those names as placeholder text until the real line-up info is announced.

Also possible that it's a wind up completely, or have to start saving up for Mexico ;)

My thoughts exactly.

Not done maliciously, just needed to add some text while they wait for the genuine lineup. Why not have some fun and play 'fantasy-festival'?!?

Oh I know, Mexi, ha. I was agreeing with you agreeing :) Sorry if came across otherwise.

Just meant I have done it myself and it's a possibility. More likely than boc in Mexico I think ;)

Good point, I remember him saying that.

Yeah the placeholder theory is probably it. Still reckon there'll be live dates next year, though.

Well, I started the thread because i got that screenshot sent to me and I just wanted to share with you guys, i didn't do it to read ignorant rants about my beautiful country. More great bands come to Mexico city every year than to many small/shitty cities around the globe so cut the hate. The veracity of the poster is not for me or you guys to decide, i just though it would be cool to share it with you BOC fans. Anyways, I'll let you know on the 7th if it's real or not. I'm attending the line-up announcement party. Let's all hope it's true, that would probably mean more tour dates for all to enjoy.

Having read through some of the comments above, I agree one or two do seem a little.....pointed? I think we've all read the reports about guns and gang violence in Mexico, but equally I know several people who've had perfectly safe trips there and loved it. Personally, I've never been so I can't comment. My loss I guess?

I honestly hope you enjoy the festival and if by some miracle 'they' do turn up (and I'd still wager they don't, but who knows?), that you enjoy them with a 'told-you-so' grin on your face.

The announcement is on the 7th of November, I also have high level of skepticism for news like this. If it does happen and you or any other board member wants to come over you'll find a home and a friend in Mexico. Let's hope for the best.

Mexico is a big country, not every city is Juarez. My best friend is from Michoacan and has been there for the past two months. He says he feels very safe because of the outrageously beefed up police presence and their constant patrols.

And that's to say nothing of the incredible presence of touring bands and musicians in Mexico. It took a war to get bands to stop coming to Ukraine a while back. There are music festivals in Mexico all the time, and none of the artists I follow have yet to be machine gunned by the cartels.

Shit, if it turns out to be real it'd be a perfect excuse to go to Mexico for the first time. I mean, I can't afford it looking at the price of flights, but I've wanted to go since a few friends of mine went to Cancún a couple of years ago.

I know I posted "I wonder why Mexico" but not because there's anything about Mexico that would make it a wierd place to be in and of itself, just the randomness of picking a country halfway across the world after a 15 year (or however long) gap. You'd sort of think that if they were ever to start gigging again they'd start off closer to home? Just for like, logistic reasons.

Not dissing Mexico in any way.
