Something I just noticed In "Whitewater"
Around the 3 Minute mark. A new percussion loop comes in. After closer listening the sound has similarities to the sound of waves crashing against a boat. This fits to the theory of the songtitle being a reference to whitewater rafting

I looked to see if there was already a Whitewater thread so I could talk about it, so here goes....
Boc Maxima and Hi Scores were the first BoC releases I ever listened to as a whole, and kept me busy with my procrastination in my Senior year in high school back in 2012, and each song always gave me a different story and familiar feeling in my mind. Whitewater in particular, makes me think exactly what the title suggests, white water. I have only been water rafting once in my life, when I was kid. I went with the Royal Rangers (basically a christian Boy Scouts I was part of) to a huge river somewhere in Missouri I think, and I remembered it being a very enjoyable experience apart from the sunburn. There were times where it was really relaxing, and times where it got pretty intense, and that is what I get from this song...the sleepy and drowsy synth melody that starts at 00:59 always puts me at ease and makes me think of shallow see thru water revealing the rocks and small fish behind it, and sitting still in meditation in my big rubber raft with my friends and grandpa as it slowly passes trough the gorgeous green scenery, and then as the song progresses, the water starts to splash against the raft as we start hitting bumps and slopes in the current of the river. Everything in this song mashes together perfectly and makes it one of the highlights for me in Boc Maxima, along with what I consider the song's two companions, Red Moss and Concourse. The percussion in Red Moss goes up and down in the most bipolar and dangerous of ways, with all the shiny melodies behind it signifying the red sunset sky slowly turning into night, but still reminding me that everything is going to be okay. Concourse is the most calm and blissful of the three, giving me the feeling of floating on my back on deep water in the warm light filled morning, not really caring where the water takes me as I stare at the blue sky. Whitewater is basically in the middle between relaxing and insanity. It also reminds me of about three other things in my life as well:
1. The cover to a book called Downriver by Will Hobbs that I read in middle school.
2. I was always a pinball machine nut ever since i was a little kid who was lucky enough to have grandparent who had many pinball games in their basement, and one of them (which I still play on the Steam game The Pinball Arcade) is called Whitewater, and here is the launch ball musical loop that plays at the beginning of the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPe1v9HDWFg
Does the syth line remind you a little bit of the one in the BoC song at all?
3. You can't talk about this song without mentioning the sample of the boy talking about all the different hims. I don't know if this happens for other people, but when i hear or see a word or a sentence, a picture pops up in my head about whatever the word or sentence makes me think of. For example, When somebody says Boards of Canada, a picture of Marcus and Mike as well as the Geogaddi album art, pops up in my head. Or if you say broom, I now have a picture of a broom in my mind's eye. So naturally, when ever I am feeling any sort of emotion, there is a picture in my head of me acting out that emotion. So if i am feeling proud about something I did, there is indeed a proud me too, or something like that.
My bigass essay has now concluded.

Thank you for the essay in all honesty. It is like hearing comforting anecdotes from a grandfather as far as I am concerned. Every single boards song seems to be a particular emotional experience. Not just focusing on a particular feeling but covering the spectrum of emotions felt in one memory through the six billion different human lenses on life that exist. Seven forty seven is one of my personal nostalgia songs in the way that it emulates an unknowing child's first flight on a jetliner. 'its in your head' as he looked down upon the scale of humanity in disbelief.
