WB is on my 'discovery list'. I randomly clicked on the d]p 1.1 clip a few weeks ago and was instantly intrigued. I keep meaning to find more out about him and so this thread being awoken is a good thing.

New work coming featured live in his set... sounds lovely. Gotten completely obsessed with Basinski recently. Perfect for winter and late nights.

Nearly everyone I speak to says they did not expect him to look and sound like that. I think for such brooding music you kinda expect someone who is a little more austere, but he's apparently a really approachable person. From this video at least, and previous posts in this thread he sounds like an interesting, thoughtful character.

I remember the pics on his myspace page were pretty flamboyant to say the least, and the look of the page in general could have been that of a 14 year old girl

He's definitely got the bohemian New York type look down to a tee

Melancholia is amazing, along with A Red Score in Tile.

It seems like if you buy Cascade you get Deluge digitally, but if you buy Deluge do you get Cascade in any manner?

Cascade sounds wonderful and I love the visual in the excerpt! Also, the interview with him that FACT linked to in their article is wonderful. I'm reading now. I want to have dinner with him real bad, I think it would be fun.

I think if you buy the Cascade CD you only get that track, with the Deluge LP you get both (I think the deluge is a live orchestral working of it). Gonna buy the LP when I can, shipping from Temporary Residence is a little steep, so I might wait and see if it ends up in a record shop over here like with the Melancholia LP.

Yeah! it sounds great, I've been regularly going back to the New Yorker live video of it, one of Basinski's best for sure.

Oh, crap. You're right. I didn't bother to check the track list off to the side because my excitement level was through the roof. Will be getting the vinyl.

Pretty sure only a few people will care about this, but The Deluge LP has been delayed due to test pressing issues. Kinda happy about that in a strange way, at least Temporary Residence and Basinski care about their vinyl, unlike other outlets/labels *Bleep, cough, cough*.

Also he linked to two fantastic essays on his work, a great read:

Temporary Residence is pressing 92982 for the first time. Pick it up if you can, one of the best Basinski works.
