Advice on good quality speakers

Sorry to create a whole new thread for this but I'm really running out of time if I'm going to get these things to arrive before Christmas day. I do have a friend helping me out but he's really busy at the moment and has gone a bit quiet. I received some speakers last week but had to send them back because they came damaged. I've got a record player and amplifier already arrived and I just want some speakers for my room that will be as good a quality as possible on a budget of about £120. They can't take up too much room either, and preferably they would retain good sound quality even when not on loud.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Yo dude, as jcn said we got some threads going on about hi fi all over the place but seeing as its Christmas and you're under a time limit i'll give my two cents but I reckon some of the other folks round here will have more experience than me! Mex also might move this so keep an eye out for a merge

So what amp have you got for starters? I think you said it was a Marantz?

Luckily budget end gear is usually ultra compatible. So anything you buy is mostly a matter of preference, as always its good to book a demo but some places offer a 60 day money back guarantee so maybe find a retailer with this offer if you're not satisfied. If you keep it in good nick you'll be well within your rights to return it, no fuss I reckon.

Those Wharfdales are unbelievable for the money, honestly I don't reckon you'll have any qualms with those if you went with them.. lovely speakers! They are in a select group of speakers which punch well above their weight.. I loved them when I heard them, used to have a pair too til I moved on..

Maybe consider these. These are the ones I've heard myself and really liked around this price point... Remember to check out older clearance gear though, some of the biggest bargains are found in these areas!

I plug the hell out of this brand around here, but they really are something special.. British made and really unique design, great sound and will punch out some good bass but also maintain good separation and clarity. You can get 2010s on Superfi for around 89 quid currently, which is an absolute steal! Next working day delivery too... I bought my LS50's from Superfi and they were delivered so fast I couldn't believe it. I would recommend purchasing with these guys, great customer service too

I thought these were cool too, compact but very capable, I almost bought them once.. I demo'd them and thought they were great. Cheap as chips as well man!

If you can stretch up to 200 quid though I would absolutely go with the Dali Zenzor 1's. Easily the best of the bunch and the price is justified. I think these are big sellers and the reviews are always glowing... consider it if you can.. it is Christmas after all
