As somewhat of a newcomer (Been on this forum for almost 2 years) i mostly come here to promote work for my project. I try only to reply to anyone that comments on my threads and try to only post when i have an EP or Album rather than individual tracks. That's about it. I have a huge problem with people bumping threads, but i can't say i have seen anyone doing that on here. I really do appreciate the sub section for posting our own work, i think its perfect as is. I usually only post every 3 or 4 months and i seem to get some descent exposure from it, so in my own opinion, i'm completely fine with the way it is. As long as people don't abuse it or post every week promoting the same album or individual tracks (Unless for advice or feedback).

I do admit i don't post in the other sub forums as much, i'm mostly searching through them for advice or anything relative to Boards of Canada. Going to try to post more in the other sections this year, getting tired of some of these other dead or overcrowded forums I've been on for years. Like i said though, i do appreciate a lot of the attention i get for my project on this forum, wouldn't mind if i had to post more or subscribe in order to be on this site. I like to picture this forum as this really chill and weird looking dream forest in the middle of the internet, away from the big city sites that are swarming with people. I'm actually glad you posted about this, its a good reminder to me that i should try to build a better relationship with this site and visit the other sub forums more frequently.

Thanks again for your time and letting us speak out, looking forward to the future of Twoism!

As Cupz and MrMessiah have noted, there is indeed a Twoism Records. It's a quiet place. Not a lot happening there currently. If only there was a team of members who have the time and resources to make it a bustling music metropolis.

I like the idea of it being a label where members of the board, particularly those who have participated in the One on Twoism series, get priority, promotion, and any of the other perks that come with a net label. If new members join the board and saw that there was an active music label, they would surely strive to be upstanding forum citizens, no? That means not just coming here to spam their new album newest album with 12 Turquoise Hexagon Sun clones.

Also, if there was an active team of overlords who oversaw the record label aspect, all musical submissions would go to them first, essentially eliminating some of the mucky muck in the This Random Sound subforum. It's not so much about censorship as it is about making an honest effort to go through proper channels.

It's a thought.

Feel free to take this with a pinch of salt, as I'm new, but I love the idea of there being some kind of label.

It's something I'd be happy to help with if my services were required. I record and mix music every day for a living, so I have some cool resources and skills that might come in handy.

Maybe some kind of dedicated thread or forum or other mechanism for twoismers' music in particular? That way stuff doesn't get bumped and people aren't as irritated by incessant self-promoting posts by others. I do use this forum to promote my music as well so I understand and relate to other people's desires to do the same, but will also admit it's hard to keep track of who's promoting what and it's sort of a cluster fuck

Also the idea of a label sounds fantastic, I would love to commit to that in some may but I'm not sure exactly how/specifically I could offer services. I do listen to quite a bit of music and understand the mix/mastering process, so perhaps I could help in some way with the filtering/organizing of all the music/material that comes through.

I was going to say that too. A dedicated thread to music production would go well. It works at WATMM with the Your Latest Creations thread. What they do there is: you cannot post a new thread promoting your own music until you've commented a good number of times on other people's threads. It's nothing coded into the forum. Someone can still come and post a new thread, but if they haven't been contributing to the community their threads tend to be overlooked.

After watching this topic develop, it is time for me to jump in. Not regarding the actual poll question because that is up to the community, but to comment on the Twoism Records request. There has been some chatter about this before and I certainly am all ears to this.

Although Cupz mentioned the 2ism Recordings project I'd like to state once again that there is no direct correlation with twoism.org. The idea of this label developed out of the word 2-ism, as in 2 artists working on 1 release, but that's about it. The artists themselves do not need any connection with the twoism forum. Keep an eye on the label as the next release is in the pipeline! :)

I'll soon start a topic about Twoism Records to brainstorm a bit what is feasible and how this should go next to the One on Twoism project. I already thought about this before and although I already have a few ideas I'd like to hear what you all think of it. The comments in this topic and the help offering will certainly be taking into account!

cheers to myself for the 5000th post!

Ok, so we've all had a decent chance to state initial thoughts. What I'd like to ask everyone to do over the next few days, is to read the thoughts of others, especially those that hold differing views to your own. Seek out the alternate view and see if this changes anything for you. Test your own thoughts. I left the poll open so you should be able to amend your vote if you want to. The input so for has been fantastic, even better than I'd hoped, so thank you.

This is our forum, our home if you like. Let's be sure we take all views into consideration.

Thanks again for your fantastic contributions!

A little late here maybe, but 1) heyhey! and 2) I like that there was a concern and a talk about it, and especially where the talk went. Fits the Twoism vibe well. I voted b/c I think the idea of freedom and moderation fits the warm Twoism vibe, but I realized I don't make any music myself (just mixes/engineering-like stuff). So I now vote to discount my previous vote. Do not veto me! I will be heard...able! Rise up! Ok ok, a 2nd cup here is maybe a bad idea.

ps. I don't make enough time to express enough how much I love the music I listen to from here, I feel like I owe more connecting on that. On the flipside, when there feels like silence about something new I bet there are always at least a few of us silently loving it if that matters at all!
