vballs, I am guessing you're going up the day before to stock up on the Captain Morgans? ;)

All depending on the travel arrangements, I would be very much up for some time in Glasgow.

Well we could potentially arrange some kinda piss up in Glasgow on the Thursday or Friday then, although I do agree with vballs that going to Inverie on Friday is wise! Curry, Mexi, good choice for Glasgow! I have a place in mind and everything...

Assuming you can't get a lift with someone, the cheapest option is to look up Megabus a couple of months or so before and pick up a dirt cheap coach. If you get in early enough they do journeys for £1 etc, but you have to get booked up early for the silly-cheap prices.

Hi guys just in case, and you might already know, that it is against the law in Scotland to have a campfire without the landowners permission. Been camping in the past and the ranger has come along in the morning and said " I see you had a fire, you cant do that" we told him we only used fallen timber/wood , he said No! everything must be left to naturally decay. we told him ok moved on to the next spot and promptly built a new fire. I mean camping without a fire? no way, has to be done.
if you are in a spot that requires permission always ask,as long as you lift up and replace the sod you'll be ok.
As far as the vampire like midgies go, as long as its raining, very windy or a very smoky fire you'll be ok. if its beautiful weather then pray , if you believe in that sort of thing probably wont do any good haha :D

Could I just add that, in case it hasn't been said already, don't light fires of peaty land. I am not sure if it is peaty where we are going, but peat can hold heat like no one's business and cause forest fires months later.

I'm sure Techboy will confirm this, but I don't see it being an issue. This is an incredibly remote location if I've understood correctly. Also, I'm pretty sure he's camped there before too.

Either way, we're certainly having a fire at the Dorset leg ;-)

Yeh Guys, have to build a fire. if im there I will help build it :D
I was just making everybody aware of a possible situation that might not arise. Only run into a Ranger on that one occasion and it was on the morning of packing up and leaving, less chance of them being around in the evening or late at night.
Camping just isn't right without a campfire

alright guys, yeah - last time i was there you were only allowed fires on the BBQ pit or on the beach, but when I contacted the ranger service they said they intend to have fire pits in come summer anyway, so we shouldn't have any problems. it's certainly remote mexi, but it isn't totally wild camping like in dorset :)

there's no vehicle access right enough - and I don't have a car. I can get my hands on firewood but it would be good if some people could help with transporting it up. i will need to come up with a proper list of things we need to take and see if i can split some responsibility over some of you lovely people :P
