this is my favorite shorter vignette on geogaddi and when reversed it sounds excellent my question is...is it sheer coincedence that it sounds killer backwards? i mean on dandelion the main riff is backwards what do you think?
on a sidenote the video for this on youtube is really great...a contender for my favorite homemade one

Eureka! This backwards melody is the mystery song on A New Contraption I could never figure out (It starts in about 4:33) Thanks, Yellow.
In regards to backwards songs, I always was thrown how much Corsair and Time Apple sounded so similar backwards as they do forwards... now that I'm sure is on purpose...

Agreed, and I Saw Drones backwards and forwards are indeed in my top 5.isawdrones wrote:the sound of that melody is so vast, reminds me of a huge space of nature.
The ending (originally the beginning) of A is to B as B is to C in reverse is magnificent as well. Very powerful, the voice included.

edit - Ok, now i have to explain the visual i get while listening to that ABC-reversal-end-melody-thing.
I imagine a completely black background, with that swirling melody forming a crimson-red circle, with a "star" spinning round the outline of the circle very fast. In the center of this are red "stars", appearing in correspondence to the keyboard melody playing. These form a shape somehow, I can't explain it, each one disappearing after the next note is played, only to allow another star to shine, as they constantly keep moving in random directions, almost "dancing".
Fucking BoC.

Oh definitely! The birds chirping makes it even more fantastic. I've always loved that ending, and when I started listening to it backwards it was even more spectacular. Almost like looking out of a giant bay window into a garden full of color.Lawrence wrote:My favourite backwards melody is the one at the end of Rue The Whirl. I listen to it on my iPod more than the original song!

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

I saw this the other day and it made me think about this song.
