So looking forward to this. Really excited that it's a more concise/shorter mix. I found my attention wandering after a while on some of the previous OOT mixes. With hindsight, I wish I could have contributed something but my head wasn't in the right place.

Really looking forward to listen to this.

Aaaaw :$ thanks for the kind words man!Mexicola wrote:Don't feel it would he right to discuss in more detail. No spoilers!
However, it IS superb. It IS the best OOT I've heard in my view. And it was certainly worth the wait. Ae pours his soul into his craft, I've been lucky enough to work with this chap for a little while now and we're lucky to have him.

Cheers bud!DaveJ wrote:Hey Robin. Thanks so much for including Drifting. I think, if its not too much hassle, maybe you might change the artist names on that track, to 'nineteen eighty six'? All lower case letters.
Great to see that Ochre will be mastering themCan't waiit for the release and pick up a copy. Also wanted a track on OOT so I'm chuffed!
Also, thank you Robin, Mexi and admin. Thank you Twoism, and thank you Boards of Canada for inspiring us all!

Can't seem to edit this, but anyway, should have said 'always wanted', not 'also'.DaveJ wrote:Hey Robin. Thanks so much for including Drifting. I think, if its not too much hassle, maybe you might change the artist names on that track, to 'nineteen eighty six'? All lower case letters.

Dang, didnt make the cut either but then again, they where pretty old tracks. Eitherway, thanks for the opportunity! really looking forward to hearing the full finished work and trying again in the future (Hopefully).
P.S: I would pay ridiculous amounts of money for a vinyl release of OOT

I like the change as well. Not that length is bad or anything, but this does open up possibilities like vinyl copies much more as well as making it more accessible to potential new listeners. Also, that's how I feel when it comes to the contributions. My head has never been in the right place for OOT. I tried with volume five but didn't really know what I was doing yet and I don't feel like it was worthwhile. What I arranged and worked on with three others for this one is good but was rushed. It's a remnant of a nonexistent band now. It didn't pull the full potential of its makers and as a result it isn't focused and could have been a lot better, but I'm not sure by OOT standards. You start to come up with ways to make things better and then you remember what OOT is supposed to sound like. You either compromise or don't contribute. I have never submitted anything by myself alone, a full track that is, and it's for that very reason. If you know what I mean (unless you meant something totally different).IanRedpoint wrote:So looking forward to this. Really excited that it's a more concise/shorter mix. It's the post-TH era and the compilation seems to be changing in recognition of that (from the few confirmed tracks I've heard). I'm actually liking them more than that album. Feels like people have come a long way, from being "BoC-alikes" to just sort of co-existing in this ambient, downtempo genre they sort of defined.
I'm particularly glad to see newer forum members with newer projects making OOT because they're really ones who make it special, at least to me. I think I'll try once more next time around with a minimal track...something Dntel-esque that wouldn't obstruct flow. Then I'll stop contributing because that will have been enough and more new seeds should get to be part of the community in this manner. When I first started lurking here OOT was almost like this legendary thing. Vol. 2 onwards I always thought "how could any other group of people top this sort of thing?"
And nobody else has.
