I haven't checked it out yet, but you mention that the site linked to other sites. Maybe it simply linked you to BoC's site and a loop of Sixtyten was playing there? Up until Tomorrow's Harvest, their site's always had loops of their stuff playing, changing every once in a wihle.

Does anyone remember if BoC's site had a Sixtyten loop at some point?

This is what the internet lacks nowadays, a definite sense of anonymity. Social media has taken that away, so to see anonymously posted things like this is really quite intriguing. I wouldn't be surprised if BoC dabbled a lot around the internet, they did once express desires to branch out from music, writing books and making films. Maybe this was just a different outlet for them that was accessible?
The space stuff seems like these were a bunch of "artists" of the time ripping off Animutation, but without any of the humour.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Sixtyten loop the OP seems to remember is buried in one of these links that keeps loading different music. It does seem like the sort of thing that BoC would've stumbled across on the internet in the mid 90s and wanted to contribute to on the sly. Its got that cool lo-fi A/V aspect to it that they seemed to be all about in the late 90s/early 00s before the internet became kind of homogenized. It is weird to be getting nostalgic about the early days of the internet!

9999 is interesting. It yields an animated sprite pig dancing while a montage of various images from buildings to pornography flash in the background. The audio is the beginning of Creep with some synth pads layered over it.

Edit: it appears as though the audio is random for that one, or there are at least different tracks, because upon opening it again I heard some Eno.

This one is really bizarre, because I've heard everything from Joy Division to The xx sound clips on it... Meaning that this page/ these pages have been updated as late as 2009.

If the Sixtyten loop is really on one of these pages then we've got a lot of searching to do.

So you've basically found out about net art/net.art! It's maybe a bit past its golden years, but it's never too late

Hell.com was some kind of net.art platform/community. The "if ( 1 + 1 == 1 ) { e8z = true; };" bit someone found on Wayback Machine is from a performance by Entropy8Zuper (Auriea Harvey & Michael Samyn, now known as Tale of Tales): http://www.entropy8zuper.org/skinonskin ... again.html

So after a quick Wikipedia read, s u r f a c e was one of the art "events" that hell.com held in its initial run, and it only ran for less than in a month in January 1999. The Wikipedia page actually talks about the controversy behind 0100101110101101.org copying the entire exhibit, and how hell.com was pissed off about it.

So there's also the possibility of the Sixtyten loop being somewhere in this exhibit. However, two other exhibits of theirs ran between 1999 and 2000, which fit AQfumes time frame of when they would have seen the loop. Unfortunately, the other two events (which were called skinonskinonskin and chaos) most likely were not copied by anyone. And besides that, skininskinonskin was actually an event that you had to pay for.

After messing around on the copy of s u r f a c e that 0100101110101101.org provides, it seems like a completely dead-endless maze of pages. I think I did actually find an end to it though, but even then it was a loop between a blank page and a link that said "what the hell" that led to nothing when clicked. The only way to switch pages was by that weird laughing red ball thing on the bottom. But again, it just kept infinitely looping between the two pages.

Also, viewing some of the pages automatically downloaded a bunch of vaguely named .dcr files to my drive. Things like "daze.dcr" and "introf1.dcr". Super weird.

Those are Shockwave files, the weird cousin of Flash (made with Macromedia Director, also the major authoring tool for CD-roms in the 90s)
