If you had to introduce someone to BoC with one song...

Most of the stuff on The Campfire Headphase, especially Dayvan Cowboy. Most people I know and whom I have introduced to Dayvan Cowboy liked it, from there on I introduce them to the entire of TCH.

Re: If you had to introduce someone to BoC with one song...
How about one playlist? I'll call it "The Hits of BoC":
1. Telephasic Workshop
2. Aquarius
3. Music is Math
4. Sunshine Recorder
5. Turquoise Hexagon Sun
6. Everything You Do is a Balloon
7. Bocuma/Roygbiv
8. Kid For Today
9. Sixtyniner
10. Dayvan Cowboy
11. Chromakey Dreamcoat
12. Orange Romeda
13. Sequoia
14. An Eagle in Your Mind
15. June 9th
16. Mansel
That sound like a good way without spoiling some of the less popular gems to say "yeah, that about sums them up?"
Because I could play them You Could Feel the Sky or Julie and Candy, but thinking about it in the context of being introduced to a band now, maybe they need to hear the hits, the singles. BoC only has four or five technically (depending on whether or not you count Trans Canada as a maxi-single for Dayvan Cowboy...which it pretty much also is) but you get what I mean.

Maybe I'll make this into a mix. It would flow really well. I was also considering just sending this mix to her:Rodheh wrote:How about one playlist? I'll call it "The Hits of BoC":

I can't tell whether the above posts are taking the piss out of my Few New Tunes mix or not.. Either way, that's had success for me in the past and i'll stick to it.

Didn't seem like the posts had any relation to your mixes whatsoever.number-six wrote:I can't tell whether the above posts are taking the piss out of my Few New Tunes mix or not.. Either way, that's had success for me in the past and i'll stick to it.

both very wonderful. carcan, and skimming stones move me also, so these would be in the mix, along with reach for the dead.valleaux wrote:I've been thinking about this, and I think that Left Side Drive is a good candidate.
as for a total album, it would be the campfire release...

Re: If you had to introduce someone to BoC with one song...
Introducing someone to BoC is a very difficult thing indeed, considering how versatile their sound can be. I don't think there really is a correct way to introduce someone to their music, and I'd probably end up showing them one track from every major release, aswell as maybe a couple old tunes
If I had been introduced to TCH first I may not have checked out the rest of their discography, as that album feels devoid of the unsettling nature of MHTRTC that made me fall in love with their music in the first place.

I'd have to say Roygbiv, followed by Julie and the Candy. Roygbiv is succinct enough to leave a new person wanting more.

just hackin on ya valleaux
no serious though i'd show him or her music is math cos the brothers tweak a hi-hat for 6 years 6 months and 6 days and they figured the maths while doing so.
or over the horizon radar or telephasic workshop.
Re: If you had to introduce someone to BoC with one song...
My introduction to boc (by finding it) was skyliner if one doesn't count wondering what the train song on adult swim was when I was younger. I introduced my partner to boards by showing her seven forty seven and she really likes boards now.
Given the opportunity to introduce anyone else I would use poppy seed as an example of their finest though.

I'd say Nothing Is Real, then from there branch to Julie And Candy or Peacock Tail if they like it darker or brighter respectively.
