Speaking of which, when that percussion kicks in properly, We've Started Up is damn catchy. I love that sample that sounds like a dustbin lid being hit with a hammer. And that lovely airy interlude towards the middle.
Agreed. Back when I didn't give OTV2 a chance, We've Started Up seemed incredibly boring and repetitive. I now think it's damn catchy and a pretty feel good track.
When I idly whistle, I often find myself whistling BoC melodies. The most common are probably EYDIAB, Roygbiv, Olson, Dawn Chorus, Peacock Tail, Reach for the Dead, and Cold Earth.

Yeah, seeing that BoC are usually referred to as taking a more melodic approach to electronic music as opposed to the more traditional rhythm-based song structures, it makes sense that a lot of their songs are "catchy".

I'm referring to the plucking synth ostinato that starts to fade in at around 2:00 and stops at 3:45.

no.
they are simply not the type of band i would play in a crowd. in my opinion, boards of canada make the type of music which you should play by yourself, and self explore.
