Farewell Fire (No Fade-out Edit)
I made an edit of farewell fire that removes the fade, and I did it because I love this track to death - It's subtle, but I think it's also nice to hear all the little nuances loud and clear right to the end

Re: Farewell Fire (No Fade-out Edit)
Thanks. I did this by slowly turning up my amp 'til the end. When it ended the needle jumped the last groove and it was the loudest god damn thing I ever heard. Blew my ears in.
If you haven't actually heard it through, its worth a listen. Gets kind of spooky.

That weird vocal pitch-bending thing starting at about 8:07 sounds sort of TH-esque. Interesting.

Beautifully sad song that gets even better in the second half. Need to get me a quality version of it (mine says "compressed up", dont remember where I DLed) 128 just isnt good enough for me

When it starts to get quiet, it gets more and more beautiful.

Can I download this somewhere?
Re: Farewell Fire (No Fade-out Edit)
There's plenty of sites out there that let you rip YouTube videos to MP3s. I personally use http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ since it seems to be the cleanest and least aggravating one that I've found.
If The Campfire Headphase was a butterfly, would Acid Memories be the caterpillar?

I just got this image of an alternate OTV1 where Nova Scotia Robots keeps going for 8 minutes at a low volume.MrMessiah wrote:Now can someone do the opposite to Nova Scotia Robots thatd improve that no end

Re: Farewell Fire (No Fade-out Edit)
Good idea and thanks for sharing, but in many spots there's distortion or some kind of noise which I assume is a side effect of the edit. So it gave me the idea to open up my own FF in Audacity and make a less sophisticated edit (without the noise).
I amped:
I amped:
- The interval from from 4:05.44 to 4:23.34 by 10dB.
- The interval from 4:23.34 to 7:18.6 by 20 dB.
- The interval from 7:18.6 to 7:47.8 by 25 dB.
- The final interval by 30dB.
Re: Farewell Fire (No Fade-out Edit)
Well, I used Logic to amplify it gradually (with automation) but as it became nearly silent, amplifying it to the same levels as the rest of the track gave a lot of noise (hissing), which I tried to reduced with eq without affecting the quality too much. I suppose I assumed this was normal for such a quiet signal. In fact, even with audacity I get hiss, so I'm not sure how you're doing that! I will admit though there's less noise than when I had it in logic. Perhaps it's my source...
Anyway, I want to try make a better one
cause this track is worth it.

Re: Farewell Fire (No Fade-out Edit)
I'm talking about something separate from the hissing / source noise. See for instance 0:41 of your upload, there's a crackling noise. In the unedited version that's not present.

Now now let's not get picky.

Re: Farewell Fire (No Fade-out Edit)
^^ but it's BoC, gotta be picky
Nah I mean, the edit is arguably better than the original depending on the amount of volume you can crank from your source. To me though, the clippings/artifacts/whatever are noticeable here (and I'm not even an audiosnob), so if possible, I'd rather avoid them especially in a song like this.

Re: Farewell Fire (No Fade-out Edit)
The abrupt ending of the track as it begins to distort hit me so hard and I'm now in tears... thank you for this edit
