Similarity of MHTRTC's Aquarius with TH's Cold Earth

I'm not reading through this out of fear of what's been said (I have recently explained my extreme problems with social anxiety to both Rodheh and Aerial Boundaries), but I would like to say publicly that Rodheh and I have both been in contact privately and I hope and think everything has been sorted or at least we better understand each other. I apologise for lashing out, and I am ashamed of my conduct. I would like to thank Rodheh and Boundaries for being understanding, and hope one day to get over my problems and return to frequent posting.

I think I was rather insightful with something I said personally to Rodheh, so i'll write it here too. Twoism was my first attempt at joining a community, digitally or in reality, in some years due to all of my issues. Perhaps, as I speculated in my private message, I merely wasn't ready. This is something I would put entirely on myself and not Rodheh or any other member.

Thank you for reading, and I hope that one day I can feel more comfortable and that I haven't alienated myself too far.

While we're here, I think there are a LOT more similarities between Music is Math and Reach for the Dead than have been drawn. I don't think it's anything other than self-aware self-referencing, but I do think it's interesting

Don't beat yourself up, man, you come across as a gentleman in this post. I've been a regular poster on a few very different forums over the years and if there's one thing I've learnt it's how easily people's tone or meaning or humour can be misinterpreted, not just in a single post, but over a series of posts and so some conflict is inevitable.
Rather than in normal conversation where one simple exchange can establish meaning, I think a few more are needed on a forum. My own posting style has been commented on on previous forums and it was interesting just how different I was coming across to what I thought, and how I am in 'real life'.
I still re-write and edit even the smallest posts and even then something is lost. We're all just thrashing around, trying to communicate. You haven't done anything other than express your opinion, which is all you can do and have every right to do - for me the key is to keep in mind the constant potential for misunderstanding, but ignore it to an extent and so not to worry too much about what you've posted - trust others to give you the benefit of the doubt and extend the same courtesy to them and I think that's the best we can do.
By the way, I just listened to Music is Math and I while I can't just put my finger on what it is, I hear a similarity straight away - I can't believe that I haven't heard it before. Maybe as well as self-referencing it's a way of creating an atmosphere by establishing an unconscious familiarity in the listener's head?

For me, Aquarius belongs in the same group as Happy Cycling, New Seeds and Palace Posy. What these track have in common is that most of the track is relatively monotonous and almost meditative, but towards the last minutes, the track suddenly metamorphoses, reaching a climax, like a sudden release or awakening from a dream. I love this song structure.

Slightly irrelevant, but I just noticed that both the opening synths and the drums for Aquarius and The Beach At Redpoint are very similar. Somehow I've never heard that before. Also, the background percussion sort of sounds like Aphex's Windowsill song.

These songs had always been special to me but I had only considered in the case of new seeds that it was due to the fact they bloom in to something pretty magical at the end. I suppose nlogax could fall in to this category but it is set aside from the others by the fact it becomes kind of overwhelming and almost melancholic towards the end.

I've heard this comparison before from someone else, I think. Really, the only connection that I can hear is a similarity between both the song's opening melodies. Once the beats kick in, however, they both go in completely different directions. At least, that's how I hear it.

The ending of New Seeds when it goes into that quiet, almost formant synth is one of the best moments of Tomorrow's Harvest. It always reminds me of the ending to Parhelic Triangle by Autechre, which is just a gorgeously subtle little ending.

Glad I'm not the only one who heard this. I forget which song I heard first, but after I heard the other one, I was like "that's really similar". Then I heard Cold Earth and I thought "all three of these are really similar".
