The Alan Parsons Project Thread

A several years ago I ran across APP while searching for the Chicago Bulls theme song (Sirius, off Eye In The Sky), and discovered The Alan Parsons Project. I got a few songs (Lucifer, Sirius, Eye in the Sky, Games People Play, I Robot), but I didn't really explore any further. I really wish I had at that time.

Recently I have rediscovered them after listening to those songs I bought all those years ago. Jesus, what an amazing band!
I've been diving into what is rapidly becoming one of my favourite bands ever (rivalling even BoC!).

I prefer the 70s and early 80s albums to the late 80s ones, but they are all great!.

Fun fact, APP produced Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.

Not APP, but Alan Parsons himself. When I listen to Dark Side, I can hear his influence on it. Really cool.

Yes! I recently got into the APP earlier this year. I Robot is a great album, as is Eye in the Sky and Turn of a Friendly Card. Grand, well crafted pop infused prog. I think at some point in the late seventies to early eighties they realised prog as it was understood was on it's way out in terms of wider popularity, and so decided to take a plunge into a more mainstream sound, and it worked. Their albums are masterpieces of production and sound engineering. I thoroughly recommend everyone picks up a copy of I Robot on vinyl, it sounds incredible and can be found for pennies!

I've discovered APP through 1$ vinyl bins. The sound production is great and some of the tunes are really good. My favorite album is I Robot (you have to dig that Robot cover! ).
