Also starting around the 3 minute mark when all the voices/vocal samples slowly start rising in does anyone hear what sounds like a woman singing? Maybe its the crying baby I read about on boc pages trying to see if there was a sample from a female vocalist or something known. it sounds very soulful

Yes, I hear it. I'm pretty sure it's actually a woman singing, to accompany the man's singing that starts to fade in on the right channel at around 3:00.

Yes, this track was the early favor from thc, but after, when tch slowly became my favorite boc album, i appreciate the other tracks even more, still i love peacock tail, it has that brooding feeling, like all colours of summer surrounds you and it's just growing and growing, then, dayvan cowboy is a trigger of all this, which elevates you, peacock tail is a trip slow burner and dayvan cowboy is the peak, like you almost in not control of yourself

Well said, I always thought of Peacock Tail as if it were Dayvan Cowboys little brother. No idea, but to me it sounds like it's a build-up for Dayvan, and I don't mean that to be denegrating towards Peacock Tail, the 2 just seem to belong together.

about 2 hours ago i was with my friend and his girlfriend, we were listening to peacock tail, when i told them about how listening with headphones you can pick up on the insane amount of layers and echoing effects in this track


i got home and logged into twoism, and saw this thread dug up from years ago. then i realized that i actually started this thread 4 years ago, and my original post in the thread, is pretty much exactly what i was talking to them about just over an hour ago.

just thought that was a pretty cool coincidence, even more awesome that all these years later i am still mesmerized by the campfire headphase

I was listening to the second half of Peacock Tail, where the ecstatic singing/crying sounds come in and was wondering about the source. Sure, the obvious guess is that it's some kind of Middle-Eastern or Indian ceremonial chanting... but there are moments where it doesn't sound quite human as well. Are there any particular words of any language that can be discerned?

I suggest it may be possible that the sound is synthesized. You can create highly organic, vocal wailing sounds utilizing the complex interactions of multiple cross-modulating oscillators. Here is one approach. Here is another example using a 'chaos generator':

I don't mean to suggest that they used this exact equipment, just that they may have achieved something similar with their own tools and arcane methods of sonic manipulation.
