The BoC IRC

A little over 3 years ago it was created for the soul purpose of information exchange durning the ARG. I have quite a bit of fun on other IRC channels and really wish this one would be active again. Any ideas on how we can revive it?

Well I'm happy to idle/chat on there now that I know about it.

I'm not sure how to get it active other than a thread like this, or some kind of event.

I'm on IRC quite a bit. I wish I had known about this during the TH buildup and release. If people are gonna stop by there I'll check it out.

Im on 24/7, just go on and idle and check it every once in a while. Hopefully the twoism mods can make a sticky post about it or something and we can get more people on.

I'll make it a sticky for a few days, but I'll move it over into the Playground too as it's not strictly about BOC per se.

Sounds great!!! Thanks man!!! Actually for playground ill make a solid post about it and how to register on freenode and use it. Also you should come on and register so I can mod you on there

Can probably only leave it stickied for a few days though. Tends to get a little cluttered up the top of the screen there sometimes.

Someone posted a website in there that you could listen to AND record shortwave stations across the world. Quite a few chatters were in there "searching for clues" (aka probably just geeking out on shortwave stations). Does anyone remember the link?

I think it was because its a sub topic rather then a main topic they made us put the extra #. Look up freenode rules for a more detailed explanation.

Hey everyone, unrelated but related: twoism Skype group has been around 4+ years now. Unfortunately, the program has become somewhat of a nuisance to various people. Activity has dropped over the years like the IRC and it's less a matter of trying to revive it and more one of trying to find a replacement (that's not saying anything is being deleted though and anyone interested in that can still find the thread). Anyone here use Mumble? It's a stripped down program, reminds me of TeamSpeak a little bit. Pretty basic VOIP and text chat client (you don't have to talk over voice obviously), like Skype without ads/unnecessary bloat (i.e. animated emoticons) and of course you don't ever have to worry about starting/stopping a conversation because there's no calling.

If I created a server/had someone else create one, would anyone be wanting to use it? When Skype was at its prime, we had many great discussions, not all BoC-related but obviously it could segue into that at any time. I learned just how creative this community is and ended up working on things that would have never been made if it weren't for that group. If that could grow, this one almost certainly could as well.

Let me know. I don't want to make a thread for it until I actually decide to go ahead with it.

Hey man! I actually have a mumble server, And a few other cloud servers that can also run more mumble servers. If you want I can create the server and post it on here.

Well there we go! That'd be great, My desktop is almost always on but my internet is spotty. if you can setup one for Twoism. I'd inform everyone in the Skype group who is still active and everyone who doesn't come around as much solely because of what the program turned into of it once you have it up and running. I'm sure at least a handful of people are probably willing to try out Mumble.

I'd post a new thread, but either way, post the IP when you get around to it and I'll drop by some time.

Mumble would work. And it has a jackd connection, so we can jam out latency-style and add silly effects to our voices like in the old days. RIP skype.
