Which tracks would you want to see on the BoCset?
Hey everyone!
If BoC were to eventually put out a BoCset, which tracks would you guys want to see on there? Which tracks would you prefer they don't put on there?
Personally, I'd like to see Flute Frum Thing, Audiotrack 6A, and Staircase Whip.

Davie Addison and Fly in The Pool
Out and about.

Any subset of the following:
-Echus
-Spiro
-ATP Track 2 (Point Hope?)
-ATP Track 7 (Noatak?)
-Flute Frum Thing
-The Warp10 version of Telephasic Workshop
-Pretty much anything off Acid Memories
-Pretty much anything off Play By Numbers
-Pretty much anything off Hooper Bay... Fuck it, pretty much anything off the unreleased albums.
-Some outtakes from the long silence between TCH and TH, maybe?
-Some of the 70+ unreleased tracks from the Geogaddi sessions, maybe?
The more I think about it, I think I'd like to see pretty much anything we haven't got.

If The Campfire Headphase was a butterfly, would Acid Memories be the caterpillar?

Kiteracer 2.
There are other tracks I would greatly appreciate being included, but that one is an absolute essential.

music they've made that wouldn't necessarily fit into BoC record.
I still think it's so far out they've said "Boards of Canada is a project that got way out of control" ... something similar to that.

Dream BoC set would be everything we know about except for Catalog 3 and then the best of both OT compilations on a single disc. Give Hooper Bay and Maxima standalone releases.

I don't know, I am pretty intrigued by the concept of very young BoC making 13 minute drones. Not expecting it to be amazing or like anything we've heard from them up to this point, but it would be interesting to see if there are any recognisable BoC traits in their really really old tracks.Opothecary wrote:everything we know about except for Catalog 3
Re: Which tracks would you want to see on the BoCset?
Since "the unreleased stuff" has already been said again and again (obviously all of us would love to hear Hooper Bay and Play by Numbers, etc.) then I'd say this would really interest me: the earlier/later unreleased versions of various tracks. I'm sure they go through many revisions, so many of them, Aquarius obviously not being the only one...I'd love to hear the early versions for those applicable.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

I'd be okay with them including whatever they felt was the most interesting track or whatever but I don't need to hear the whole thing, especially if it meant it was taking up room that more relevant material could be occupying in the set.Skimming Stone wrote: I don't know, I am pretty intrigued by the concept of very young BoC making 13 minute drones. To add to my original thoughts, I'd also like a disc of various odds and sods from 1998 to 2005, throw in some studio versions of live only tracks, etc.
Re: Which tracks would you want to see on the BoCset?
I wonder how many people are aware that Old Tunes Vol. 2 has some stuff on Side A that predates Catalog 3?

Not necessarily on side A. I have a feeling (given the Catalog 3 track Powerline) that Powerline Misfortune is one of their oldest tracks we've heard.

Re: Which tracks would you want to see on the BoCset?
The liner notes say that most of the tracks were recorded between '85 and '96, which pretty much spans the entire range from slightly before Catalog 3 to right around BoC Maxima. Personally, I think Side A sounds noticeably older audio quality-wise, not to mention how most of Side B sounds much closer composition-wise to what they were doing later on.
Side A is also noticeably more sample-driven, don't know if that really says anything though.

I keep having this mental image of a compact box of 8 audiocassettes:747Music wrote:A twelve or more CD bocset would not be too much, in my books. lol.
-Catalog 3/Acid Memories EP
-Closes Vol. 1
-Play By Numbers EP/Hooper Bay EP
-Rarities One: Old Tunes/BoC Maxima/MHTRTC era
-Rarities Two: IABPOITC/Geogaddi era
-Rarities Three: The Campfire Headphase/Trans Canada Highway era
-Rarities Four: Tomorrow's Harvest era
-Something to do with Hell Interface maybe?

I would love to see that acoustic version of MHTRTC the brothers have mentioned before.
Re: Which tracks would you want to see on the BoCset?
Ya, that would definitely be interesting. And Marcus said he's "not sure that they'll [we'll] ever release it." That's really not saying no to the idea of releasing it. They're just "not sure" yet. So there is a chance.Space Age Haiku wrote:I would love to see that acoustic version of MHTRTC the brothers have mentioned before.
[fanboy jokes]
They will of coarse release it as included in my prediction of a 12+ disc Bocset containing "All. Of. It." lol
Actually, that's a fitting subtitle.
Confirmed that the premium Bocset version, limited to a few hundred copies, will be named: "Bocset: All. Of. It."

Dear lord, my headphones wouldn't come off for sooooo long if that happened.
