Not only that, but some inspiration from Tomorrow's Harvest came from sci-fi soundtracks. Who's to say that doesn't include sci-fi TV shows? I'm leaning more toward "Doloxon" as the Boards of Canada track. If it's not them, whoever made that track just earned a new fan because it's a really nice song.

"Northwest Territories" could be Boards as well and definitely sounds like a sort of precursor for "Roygbiv" or polished demo during the early days, but it sounds a little less layered than a standard Boards of Canada song usually is and the birds being that prominent in the mix really throws it off for me.

Out of the two, I'm leaning toward "Doloxon"

Regardless of who any of them are (and trust me, I've tried to playfully weasel names out as early as last year, to no avail!), as an artist who's had four tracks featured on the Touched. compilation series, I'm just happy so many people are listening to the things coming out on the Bandcamp page and supporting the music and Macmillan Cancer Support. It warms my heart so much!

(I also think that it's cute that Christ. and Boards of Canada may have songs on the same compilation).

Just as a note, there's an email Touched sent out features a review from Alexander Shum that looks like this:

But guessing is only half of the fun. This truly is quality, all the way through. Opening with a veritable squelch-fest which should have most of us nodding heads in recognition, this release never stops offering tunes you're going to play again and again.

Let me tell you it's infuriating at points when you have an idea of who a certain track is by, only to hear something in the next phrase which shatters all the illusions you'd built up of being a super-sleuth. But this only reinforces my long-held opinion that deep down it really doesn't matter who makes the electronic noise - what's important is that electronic noise is being made and it continues to evolve and shatter previous high-quality boundaries.

No release on the Touched label would be complete without a bit of name-dropping, but that's truly difficult here as I 80% don't have a clue who is responsible for what! Little birds of good authority have however recently found themselves on my shoulder so I wouldn't be surprised at all to find that Aphex Twin or say, Future Sound Of London or possibly Boards Of Canada have contributed. With the long, long list of previous contributors to this label you're certainly going to have a nice time seeing if you can work anything out.

But then, why bother? Sit back, turn it up to eleven and enjoy one of the best music releases this year, knowing you're listening to the work of some masters."

As always, proceeds go to Macmillan Cancer Support - £31,000 raised and counting.

This is my opinion having not heard it at all - I'm going to wait until closer to the holidays when things are winding down at work and I can really savor the release in whole - the title just seems like a very overt hint to the artist...but maybe that's what they want?

None of these sound like BoC to me. What sounds a little like BoC definitely doesn't sound produced/mixed by them at that.

There's 3 or 4 that I'd lean towards if I had to assume they were on this compilation and make a conclusive statement about it, but the most genuine sounding one (of two that seem to have the instantly recognizable SH-101 reverb chamber sound BoC doesn't ever seem to be able to get away from) is named strangely for BoC, though I would assume they'd probably do something very different for this sort of thing and if I wanted to really try to look for them in depth here, I'd actually turn towards the tracks that don't so much sound like them.

Anyways, yeah...no idea. That "BoC ears" comment is either a "no" or just cryptic nonsense.

The album wasn't produced/mixed by BoC, apparently all the tracks on the album were mixed by the same guy (The event organizer wouldn't even tell him who they were by). I wish I had some solid proof of this, but it's pretty far back in the Mixlr chat now. If you wanna look for that particular segment of the chat, be my guest.

I was greatly enjoying a lot of music yesterday (never a wrong time for a day of Basinski!) and this morning up until about...sunset, actually. Then I got a message which reminded me of this thing and led me here where I shared my thoughts on whether or not they were present on this compilation. I'm not sure my comment means exactly whatever it seems to have meant to you, but whatever.
