Tomorrow's Harvest - How do you rate it now?

It is a masterful album, they completely nailed it in my opinion. The concept, the production, the campaign. I've tried not to milk it and I'm glad of that. Every time I revisit and especially on different sound systems/headphones I discover something new. Pretty sure there's still a wealth of undiscovered meta data in it too. 10/10.

Looks like I have 136 listens so far. It's holding up, I still listen to it once or twice a month at this point. Starting to feel the itch for something new though - but I know they've never completely nailed a new LP without at least 4 years since the last one.

Timely for me to notice this thread pop back up as I'm almost certain I finally understand what it is -on the surface- and without getting into the big, long article/review I'm writing, I'll sum up my current feelings about TH in much the same way its portrays its concept: TH is an awful studio album. It is an excellent 3rd generation poorly compiled original score.

Tomorrow's Harvest has some amazing moments setting out & nailing the albums concept extremely well which I do really admire & appreciate. There are some beautiful tracks as we all know.

But for me I just don't get back what I'm after with TH which I get from so much of their other work.


That's not me saying it's not a great album just not my personal favourite.


It's still The campfire headphase for me. All the other albums come an equal second because despite there being so many classic tracks there's always the odd track or two I skip.

TCH from beginning to end is my favourite BOC album. It's not quite perfection, but it's their best work & strongest album musically imo.

To be honest Nothing Is Real doesn't really feel like it belongs on the album to me. Feels like BoC decided to put in a super nostalgic-sounding track just to keep the fans happy, and it almost comes across a bit forced at times as it doesn't really fit the theme of the rest of the album. That's just my two cents anyway.

Nothng is real is a shelter in the storm, a peaceful harbor, a pray, it's a winston smith dream in his dystopian now. Man, I love this record, I know that Geogaddi is something really special, but this album is just capture so much to me, it's hard to deny it's magic, and all this was day one experience for me, like you build this album, how it will sound, just looking at the tracklist and artwork, and then finally it's come out...do band realize how much impact they made with this, I'm not some crazy fanboy, but they made me happy

All of the above is what opinion looks like (don't get me wrong, I don't think Nothing is Real is any sort of major offender) and there's no need for this bullshit nearly three whole years later.

Probably a thousand full plays later I've come to the conclusion that Palace Posy is the strongest track on the record in a certain light, and of the full length tracks I'd take it, New Seeds and White Cyclosa as being largely worthwhile.

That said, I still believe they deserve better company. Gemini, which is an overture I absolutely love (unrelated: reminds me of Metroid for some reason), should open something more brilliant and cohesive. The biggest difference it seems between yourself and I regarding the album as it is, the flow, is that it has any at all. The only way I can appreciate TH is to look at it in what I feel was probably its intended format for the bulk of its duration: fictional label did a shitty job putting together a fictional OST for a quick release. They didn't include all the tracks composed/used, didn't include full versions, marketed it quickly/poorly, listed tracks with alternate names, split a whole bunch of it up instead of including proper suites etc... it's a clear and pretty damn clever homage (not to mention risk-free, but I won't berate them for that) done well with a theme that provided an easy way to get the too long still, ungreased wheels of BoC turning again by making up for shortcomings with concept and material that's so often more fun to think about and analyse than it is to listen to. It all lines up pretty well with what BoC told everyone and unless TH really is some crazy puzzle waiting to be put together, I'll go with a comment Cupz' gave me: "hey, whatever, it's just an album regardless" and stop searching for clues so often. It was a smart idea coming back into the game. Leads me to believe the next BoC release will come out of the gate guns blazing and blow everyone away, as opposed to creep in to a universal "8.8" welcoming party.
