feel the vocals as another part of the mix...

if you start listening to cLOUDDEAD/Dose/Why? enough with an open mind vocals that sound uncomfortable to your ears will grow on you... trust that. I remember in high school not being that drawn in by Dose's voice or Yoni Wolf's and now their sound is addicting to listen to for me.

yes... that zorn! i am a part of a crew of people who maintain his venue called the Stone in NYC.

These timbres/textures definitely sound to be coming from Tomorrow's Harvest.

The track itself came from doing what the music called for.
That's awesome that you work at the Stone. I remember us messaging about jazz a while back. If I make it out to NYC we'll have to get together. I recently moved to the Bay Area and frankly I'm disappointed by the scene so far, though I haven't tried super hard yet.

I totally remembered that just by seeing your username. If you're in NYC, absolutely !

Yah I've heard SF has become highly blown out, I know Mike Patton, Trevor Dunn, etc. used to be based out there. You could just as easily say that about NYC to be honest. I'm not really a jazz musician in that sense, so I don't know from experience. I would try to connect with Mills College in Oakland. Great teachers, faculty, and probably a lot of students to play with.

I love the vocals. I went and listened to the original track and I think it's fantastic. Once upon a time I couldn't stand the vocals on Good Friday and Deaddogstwo either. Love em both now.

I really love this remix, I understand completely when people are saying the singing is a bit bit much. The singing is very similar to cLOUDDEAD and I think it is an acquired taste haha. I was so intrigued by the clouddead (self titled) album because it is very unusual so I kept giving it a chance and the singing style does grow on you. Also I can see why Mike Patton would be in on such a thing, the guy is an amazing singer and very experimental.

The BoC wizardry going on in this piece is just lovely though, so thirsty for more all I want for 2016 is 1) World peace and 2) More BoC :)

Can't wait to purchase this mix, the delay about 2 minutes in is proper floydish and makes the hair stand up on my back, the tracks gives me "dem feels" pretty bad!

The 1st time I heard it I thought of Learning To Fly by Floyd. There's a chord movement that's very similar.

Great to see the boys back with something new!

The remix is pretty nice. Nothing mindblowing, but I'm just happy to know they are still alive!

Don't care for the original, but listening to it side by side with the remix is fascinating. BoC really ought to remix more stuff, they've got serious skills for going "I know what this needs" and then ripping out everything and flooding the track with magic.

i'm annoyed by those comments of "vocals sucks and we want an instrumental version of this,
boc music is mostly intrumental, go revisited their discography then, if you want more boc instrumentation, flol

I love the vocals, but i really like cLOUDDEAD's stuff, so I guess that figures.
I don't really understand people complaining about the vocals indeed, Boards never have vocals in their songs, so I'm glad if they do have them for once.

Yeah there is nothing wrong with the vocals per se, even if they are an acquired taste. Its just that they simply don't work with BOC's own input here.
I have acquired tastes for hazlenut yogurt, as well as dry Moroccan olives, but mixing them together spoils both
...what subtlety?

I need to re-listen a few more time to start formulating an opinion, but I'm really happy BoC collaborated with Patton. I might not always or even usually enjoy his work, but I admire him for always trying something new. Guy is an absolute genius, even if the music isn't always great.

Really dig this. Interesting that the chorus "between give and take you take, take, take, take..." seems negative at first, but if you roll it into the next bar it says "between give and take you take, take, take, take...chances", which is more lyrically positive. The second instrumental half is what I'm hoping their next album will sound like...extremely glacial post-Campfire chillscapes.
